If you don`t know Squiers are guitars made for Fender but not actually Fender guitars. Got a bit of a bad rep in the 90s for using poor materials and substandard manufacturing. I believe more recent guitars are much improved.

Squier are Fenders budget range guitars... usually made in the far east... but don`t hold that against them.. some superb guitars come of these so called budget factories.. Vintage spring to mind....
Like most budget or cheap end equipment, they tend to be made at the same factory and then badged.. In the 90`s it was a company called Samick.. Most of the major brands had there cheaper guitars made by them..
Having said that.. some of the 80`s Squiers were made in Japan and are better than some of the more upto date lower end Fenders...
The most important thing to do with any guitar is to get them setup. It will make the guitar play better and you`ll enjoy playing it. Prob cost 30-40 quid.
I could have done with that last Christmas, James got a (decent) secondhand Squier from a music shop at £129. Amp & all the extras came to the best part of £250 quid.
I consider myself an optimist, albeit an optimist with cynical tendencies and a dark side that Lucifer himself would find a little creepy. (Perhaps you've noticed.) You don't normally associate cynicism with an upbeat pov. But I have exactly that combination and will defend it.

Well spotted, but drat! Was interested in that acoustic but the price has just jumped back up to £79.93.
Let me know if you spot an SG though.

Not so! Each vendor may make guitars for several companies, but each design and materials used are under strict guidelines from the individual importer.
I work for a musical instrument manufacturer, and although the prices have come down in recent years for chinese imports, the quality has also suffered too. We now have triple the failure rate on amps and guitars that were once made in the US and the UK.
Add that to the number of jobs subsequently lost puts a dark cloud over the whole industry.
