Just been at the local Asda, and right at the entrance was a big promo for a Pacific 28 inch widescreen TV for £249 and a home theatre kit for £189.
The Home theatre kit was a Pacific DVD Player (sorry no number) but I don`t think it was the one sold previously for £99. This one is a slimline black model (about half the height of most players) but was pretty damn wide. DD 5.1 decoder built in and supplied with subwoofer and 5 speakers.
Thought hard about where to post this but was convinced that it may be a bargain if it turned out to be hackable. I guess the entry level home cinema pricetag just dropped again.

I think the player was a Pacific 200 as I remember, Wasnt a bad looking machine and for £189 what more can you ask for.

Toysrus selling a Venturer system for same price. Saw one in Belfast store last night but shop was closing so didn`t have time to check out details

Saw one in Asda the Other day, got to be honest were not impressed. I`d check home cinema spec, looked and felt flimsey to me i`d check power outputs etc...

Could someone who has purchased this kit please give a review. I am not expecting miracles for this money, but confirmation that there are no lipsync probs and the fans are not louder than the amp can go would be appreciated. Thanks AMan

I have paid only £60 more for a Toshiba SD110E player coupled with the Videologic Digitheatre DTS amp/speaker package. Beat that! ;-)
