250GB Media Centre Hard Drive - About £80!!!!!!!!!

MicoMan (Elite) posted this on Monday, 9th April 2007, 08:04

I have been looking at getting an external hard drive for some time but prefer to get something that has more than one use.

I found this for just £37.99 (plus 99p delivery) - http://svp.co.uk/products-solo.php?pid=1627
I then add a 250GB hard drive for only £37.41 (free delivery) from here - http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/108778

I then get an external hard drive which also connects to my TV to plays Divx, Mp3, photos and even excepts memory cards!!

Total cost including shipping £75.40!! Which I thought was a good price :)

Will cost a bit more if you miss SVP`s 99p delivery week end.

Out of stock now, but don`t forget you can *cough*rip*cough* DVDs to the drive as well and use it as a juke box.

I said it before and I`ll say it again.

So basically what you do is, put a hard drive within the unit, and you then connect it to your TV? I am assuming you then have to connect another external drive to it to copy and paste onto the drive?

Connects to your computer via USB.

Thanks. I`d just had a good look at it, and then realised you could connect it via USB. ;)

Yep, basically a USB 2.0 external drive, but with a media player built in. Bought a Freecom one just before Xmas and haven`t looked back.

No more burning DVD-RW`s when I want to play Divx files on my TV :)

I also get to clear my spare 40GB on my PC so I can soon install Vista! :/ - good or bad depending on how you feel about it?

The one main problem I can see is I am going to have to unplug it and connect to my PC everytime I want to update it :( I was thinking though I could connect my wireless laptop to the unit and stream the new files across, but it could take a while :/

Here`s waiting for the "N" standard to get sorted!

How is the device powered? I`m assuming by a standard DC adapter, which obviously means it all has to be unplugged etc everytime you want to update it?
