Denon,

Indeed, this represents something of a bargain. Having the advantage of being an employee, i plugged the player in to the tv wall loop(you`ve been to Cardiff Extra-you know how big it is!). On the Sony tv`s we have the picture is acceptable though not astounding due to the signal booster used for the looping of the signal. However one of my staff has bought one and is very pleased with the results. Multi Region out of the box(don`t know if this counts for every model!), dts, very clean sound, nice picture on his Panasonic Wide tv and all for les than a ton. And you get a carry handle for the box!
Special purchase at all Extra format Tesco stores. Go seek and buy at your leisure.
Also Tesco are doing a big one off offer on Sony and Panasonic Tv`s soon. Sony is 32" and the Panny 28". More info when im allowed to say!

thanks westy, popped in this evening and bought one and yes it`s multi region and play`s cdr`s etc, nice picture but not quite as good as my m5 but i bought it for the kids bedroom as ever since i bought my m5 my daughter has been angling for one?(i`m a big softy really).
would recomend this player for anyone looking for a real budget player which costs 50p less than the alba 113 and does so much more a hell of a lot more.

Can you advise what more features than Alba 113 and is it comparable to Cyberhome 528
Also, does anyone know of an online review of the Dansai?

i could not find a review of this machine anywhere, but if you are unhappy with the machine you can take it back to tesco`s for a full refund.
my first player was the alba 113 which i returned to argos because you are restricted with what you can play on it?
for example it will play R1 & R2 disc`s and music disc`s but it will not play vcd`s even though it states that it will?

the dansai on the other hand will play everything- dvd,vcd,mp3,cdr,cdrw and is multi region straight from the box.
hope this info helps

Well I just bought one today its called a Dansai 852 and its not a bad little machine for the price. It wont play R1 as I have tried the simpsons and it just says `wrong region` it does however appear to have macrovision turned off! Hopefully there will be a hack sometime in the near future...

Can you confirm that Macrovision is off?? My mates wants one with it off.

Have you tried it with a few different DVD`s? What VCR do you have?

Yes its off, well it is for me anyway! I tried Pulp Fiction, Fight Club, Snatch, The Matrix and Silence of the Lambs and they`re all fine. My vcr is A JVC HR-J625 and its a few years old now but still going strong.

Now if I only knew how to get it to play R1!.....
