Would have to disagree- seen it 3 times now - great dialogue - great action sequences - and an amazing performance from a man hidden behind a mask for the whole film - great fun.

It was Hugo Weaving from the Matrix. Ironic seeming there were so many similarities

Form the moment V met Natalie Portman in the alleyway spouting off a dozen sentences mosts of the words beginning with V to the scenes in the underground ala Matrix
The Matrix is far superior

To be fair, the original V story was started in the early 80`s and finished in 1988 by Alan Moore, a full decade before The Matrix. It`s also worth noting that the Wachowski brothers were massive fans of V (they started off as comic book writers before they became involved in films) and their dream was to make a V For Vendetta film adaptation. They shopped the script around for years, and when they couldn`t get it made (despite the fact it was optioned by Warner Bros for many years), they moved on to the Matrix. While the ideas are similar in some (very superficial) ways, I think it`s a little unfair to say that V is a rip off of The Matrix.. or even vice versa.

erm.. where was the spouting poetry in the Matrix again?
Where was the guy in the mask?
Where was the totalitarian british government using the threat of immigration and terrorism to control the people?
Where were the chat shows?
And i didn`t notice too many machines, AIs, alternate realities, leather outfits or bullet-time kung-fu gunfights in V either.
V is basically Guy Fawkes meets 1984. It isn`t remotely liek the matrix.. and if it wasn`t directed by the same people then no-one would be making such ludicrous assertions. Might as well say V is just like Bound because it has two people trying tou outwit a bigger organisation.
Heck.. V isn`t even an action film.. whereas the Matrix most certainly is.
