To make this player region free:-
Turn the player on, press `Open` to open the drawer then type 1030 followed by the region you wish to set (0 for region free, 2 for region 2, etc.). A message will appear in the bottom left corner of your screen to confirm the new region setting.

Has anyone else who purchased this player had any issues with divx/xvid playback?
I have tried a couple of dvds with content that works ok on my other player but the Tevion seems to have trouble reading the disk, it recognises about 2 of the 7 files and refuses to play the others.
I`ve had a check on the akura website as I believe they manufacture the unit but cannot see any firmware updates.
Any response would be appreciated

Is this player any good???? It looks a bit `cheap`
I can see why a card slot would be useful but why the usb port?
why take life so seriously..its not like you are going to make it out alive

The USB slot can be used for a couple of things:
Firstly, if you have a USB pen drive then you can stick films, pictures or music on it and simply plug it into the USB slot!
Second, if you have an external harddrive caddy then you can also plug this into the DVD player via the USB slot and viola, access to your HD via the USB slot.

I have hooked up an external 200GB Maxtor Drive and it has played everything I have thrown at it so far, MPEG, avi`s, MP3, Jpg etc. Picture is very good on both normal DVD and Divx. Tried 1gb SD Card with Jpegs and Mp3 and worked fine.

Hi Guys,
I`ve got this player and agree it playes most things...just having a "strange" going on when playing AVI formats on DVD. Have about 5 films backed up onto DVD and play them each fine, but at random times during th film it flickers then gives me loads of "static" across the screen, locks up and the remote stops working. Have to pull the plug and start again. Random times it does it again.
Any idea? Any firmware?
Great player using the external Hard Drive but just a bit cross with the DVD AVI playing part.

got it replaced with another, works brilliantly ....
