Page 1 of Free Broadband
Bargain Buckets Forum
Hiya all,
Any customers of Orange who have a mobile phone contract of £30 or more is now entitled to free broadband saving £17.99 a month. Orange have taken over wanadoo and are offering this deal to all new and existing customers....BARGAIN!!
Steve.
The headline grabbing part of this converged comms provider is the offer of "free broadband" for customers who spend at least £30 a month on an Orange mobile contract. While there is no connection fee, customers still need to shell out around a tenner a month for line rental. There`s also a 2 gig a month cap for the service and punters are tied into an 18 month contract.
I consider myself an optimist, albeit an optimist with cynical tendencies and a dark side that Lucifer himself would find a little creepy. (Perhaps you've noticed.) You don't normally associate cynicism with an upbeat pov. But I have exactly that combination and will defend it.
But surely if you are an existing customer of both Orange mobile and Wanadoo you will be saving £17.99 a month or even if you are already paying this price on say Vodafone then you could change over and save £17.99 a month, correct me if i am wrong.
Steve.
You need to read the small print, but the page is missing at the moment and the Orange site is extremely slow today.
If you fit the profile: £30+ mobile spend, light internet user and are happy with that, then it is OK.
But with an 18 month contract you are locking yourself out from other opportunities. If you are prepared to tart your mobile contract you should be able to save enough to pay for a decent ADSL connection. For example Eclipse will give you 20GB peak, unlimited OffPeak for £14.99.
I don`t like these multi-product deals as they tend to be restrictive, large corporations never give you a free lunch!
I am already a Wanadoo (now Orange) broadband user @ £17.99, and not a big time mobile user (PAYG is fine for me), but I did notice that now, under Orange, for the same price they offer wireless broadband connection for upto 6 pc`s AND free off-peak UK landline calls via VOIP.
So thanks to this thread, I have now changed my package for no cost. They say that will supply me with a new LIVE BOX modem within 10 days, but there was no mention of them wanting the old USB modem back. Still, we will see, maybe I will have something to sell on eBay soon? ;)
