Netgear DG834T 108mbps Wireless Router + USB2.0 Adaptor for £89.99
Hey all! My first post here (hopefully will be useful to someone).
PC World have reduced their Netgear DG834T Wireless Router + USB2.0 Adaptor bundle from 129.99 to 89.99.
I am currently using this - and it is a brilliant piece of equipment. A quick check on pricerunner turns out that the 54mbps version sells on amazon (without the USB adaptor) for £70. IMHO, is a good deal if you want to change your router, and have a PC/Laptop with a free USB port.
It is easy to install...

Just a small point... on Amazon the 54mbps version does include a USB adapter though you have to claim it

On this, it comes in the pack - and IMHO, the speed is much better.

Are there any experts that can advise whether this is suitable for AOL? I had read that there were compatibility issues with this particluar card - thoughts?
Thanks in advance.

There is a very long thread on the official netgear support forums here about various problems with that particular modem. There are also other threads about problems with the modem.

I asked about AOL compatibility from PCWorld and they said that Netgear had some sort of tie up with AOL making their products better suited than Belkin etc.
RE: Netgear DG834T 108mbps Wireless Router + USB2.0 Adaptor for £89.99
Okay,
The Netgear wireless modem/router will work with AOL and is supported, although the latest model isn`t yet. By the latest model I mean the 108mbps DG834GT. This router works with the WG311T PCI wireless adaptor, the WG111T USB 2 adaptor and the WG511T PC Card. Remember, if your wanting an extended range set up, then go for the blue tagged boxes in the right hand corner where it normally says in red 108mbps `G` in red.
Question, why on earth do you need the thing supported? Firstly it`s easy to configure. Shove in the cable to your phone line initially and set it up before you go wireless and add on other laptops or base sets. Once it is set up then adding to it is childs play. Secondly, AOL provide crap telephone support anyway. Your as well phoning up the speaking clock in Japan and trying that. Anyone with one neuron aimlessly wandering about in a brain cavity can do it.
The other thing is that there are other suppliers out there apart from PC World or is it PC Dont care and will rip you off and dont ask for a refund. Do a Kelkoo or Pricerunner check and you WILL get a price lower than that lot even on Special Offer and another 10% off and sex with the sales assistant.
Have fun.

This bundle is available for £62.98 from amazon.
You need to add both to your basket - then use code NETGWRESADAP at the checkout. Also remember to select super saver delivery.

Wow!! Not a bad price at all. The 54mbps version is `on offer` at £89.99 in Staples... so at this price it`s a giveaway. The code also works with a PC (PCMCIA) card instead of the USB card at £62.45. It`s almost worth this price for a firewall/modem/router on it`s own.
Very tempted now!!!! Especially as I have a £5 Amazon voucher somewhere.

RE: Netgear DG834T 108mbps Wireless Router + USB2.0 Adaptor for £89.99
Just a quick update - using the code above at Amazon I bought the Netgear bundle (Netgear DG834GT 108Mbps Wireless ADSL Modem Router with 4-port 10/100 switch + Netgear WG111T 108Mbps Wireless USB 2.0 Adapter) for £52.98. Even better value now!
Was unsure whether to go for the PCMCIA card or the USB adapter... went for the USB though to give me more flexibility. If this is a bad option please advise!
