Please help - Amazon.com & Customs charges

KingAndy (Competent) posted this on Sunday, 8th July 2001, 10:21

Could anyone tell me if i will have to pay any customs charges from amazon.com? The total amount of my goods was $39.00 for a dvd and a book. I dunno if it will show up as a gift on the package though. Any answers?

Thanx
Andy

Not strictly a bargain, King.

Try here, though, which should help you :

Normally anything over £18.00 (gift or other) should incure customs charges.
Thats why companies such as Play 24/7 have prises structures at the £17.99 mark

Yea i guess so, but the book was nearly $20 alone, but i used a $10 coupon along with the dvd, which just abouts pays for the shipping. The total amount in our money would be about £25 so im probably gonna get hit with charges, although they cant be more than a tenner, i hope not.

Laters,
Andy

P.S. At least i fully trust amazon.com, and it`s worth paying a little extra for that. Although next time i`ll order my dvd`s from play247.com, this way avoiding any damned customs charges....damn those people.
