BA: SE K750i on Vodafone CrossNet 200 (12m) - minimum term cost of £110 (after cashback)

WEALTH WARNING: This deal is dependent on claiming cashback from the retailer. For those unfamiliar with the machinations of cashback contract deals, please read my article on this subject:

http://www.reestit-mutton.co.uk/MOBILES/CONTRACT/index.html

The Sony Ericsson K750i is the long awaited upgrade to the Sony Ericsson K700i and, unbelieveably, it`s on sale at One Stop Phone Shop on Vodafone CrossNet 200 for a minimum term cost of only £110 after cashback. By comparison, it`s predecessor was never this cheap on contract so this is a really special offer - as such, I don`t expect it to remain at this price for very long.

The Sony K750i is essentially a Sony K700i with a 2 megapixel camera with autofocus and flash and an uprated 262,000 colour screen. It also supports Memory Stick Duo cards up to 2GB, allowing enough storage to make the MP3 functionality worthwhile.

This deal is structured as follows: The normal line rental for CrossNet 200 is £30 per month. Your service provider will charge you this amount on a monthly basis until you choose to cancel the contract (this contract is cancellable after 12 months). The advertised minimum term cost is achieveable via cashback from the One Stop Phone Shop in three equal parts - £83.33 each time after 4, 8 & 12 months.

Retailer: One Stop Phone Shop
Handset: Sony Ericsson K750i
Tarrif: Vodafone CrossNet 200
Minimum Term: 12 months
Monthly Free minutes: 200
Free Minute Validity: cross-network, anytime
Monthly Free Texts: NIL
Monthly Line Rental: £30

Network Offers: 250 free texts per month for the first 6 months
(remember to cancel the text pack after 6 months if you don`t want to pay £14/month for it thereafter)

Retailer Cashback: £250.00
Cashback Schedule:
£83.33 after 4 months
£83.33 after 8 months
£83.33 after 12 months

MINIMUM TERM COST: £360 (before cashback), £110 (after cashback)
MONTHLY EQUIVALENT: £30 (before cashback), £9.17 (after cashback)

OSPS is now owned by Carphone Warehouse so they are a reasonably safe bet.

what about this offer for the samsumg d500 at 11 months for 3.99 per month?
http://www.onestopphoneshop.co.uk/ourdeals.php?PROV=VIRG&OFF=GD500B&TAR=V20018
but it does say that its for 18 months - does that mean you can`t cancel after 12 months?

That is correct KaTz.

The Virgin deal cannot be cancelled for 18 months so you will be paying full line rental for months 12-18 inclusive @ £30/month (£210 total) plus £4 per month for 11 month (£44 total) giving you a grand total of £254 over the minimum term of the contract, or approx. £14 per month.

Ive ordered the k750 from onestop
when i track my order this is what i see:

K750I CPW ERI Sony Ericsson K750i Handset £0.00 £0.00
T28 CC Ericsson Car Charger £0.00 £0.00
VSC CPW Vodafone Sim Card £0.00 £0.00
Free gift 3 months half price rental(from network) £0.00 £0.00

Notice 3 months half price rental. I REALLY hope theyre not gonna claim a typo on the front page or something. 3 months half price would be a lot more believeable than 8 months free though

As it happens, the network isn`t even offering 3 months 1/2 price at the moment so it looks like a complete c**k up in their acknowledgement emails.

No need to worry ttlpjh.

As a result of your post I decided to have a little chat with a contact of mine inside OSPS and he acknowledges that the 8 months free deal is a genuine one (i.e. not a website error).

He also told me that, although the order will effectively be fulfilled by Carphone Warehouse`s order system, the tracking still links to their system which now, unsurprisingly, has out of date information. It seems to be an outstanding glitch arising from the merger of their business systems.

Rest assured, you (and anyone else that orders this package while the current offer remains) will be getting the cash equivalent of 8 months free.

Mind you, I still find it a very hard deal to actually believe - I mean, this handset was only released this week and, barring the fully fledged PDA phones, it`s probably one of the most feature rich 2G handsets currently available. It even has a street value of around £250-£300 so, if you`re just after a new contract and don`t really need a new handset, you could sell on the handset and be well and truly quids in.

Of course, I wouldn`t want you to interpret this as an endorsement of bulk buying this package to sell the handsets on ebay for profit, as I really don`t agree with that behaviour for a number of reasons - but it is a very good way of limiting the cost of a new contract that you fully intend to use.

Well thanks for bringing this one to my attention RM. This is a true bargain and i`ll be surprised if its still there by the end of the week. Affiliate link used and appreciated.
