If you peel back Daewoo badge, does it say Chevrolet underneath? :D

It was set at region 2 and ALL (ie: copies) but used the below hack and set it to ALL REGIONS.


* Switch on player

* Press the DVD button on the remote control to switch to DVD mode

* Press the Open button on your remote control to open the disc tray

* Using your remote control, press 0, 5, 2 and 0, in order, one at a time

* Press the Up button on your remote control

* Press the Down button on your remote control

* Press the Left button on your remote control

* Press the Right button on your remote control

* A hidden menu appears showing the current region setting.

* Press 1 - 6 for new region , or 0 for multi-region.

This looks exactly the same as mine, bought about a year ago at Sainsbury`s for £99.99.

Got to say i am very happy with it, and I hacked mine back then no worries.

I think at this price it is a steal.

Is macro defeat possible? Can you save multi region DVD`s to tape?

Have seen refurbished Broksonic for around £50 in TJ Hughes.

Am looking for a suitable machine with Nicam VCR record and playback. Some of the cheaper ones have a mono VCR so may pop to Kwik Save

It`s nice if you can (pop to Kwiksave that is) but since Somerfield bought them out, their stock line is well down. Does anyone know if this model is actually still available anywhere?

local KS in bushbury (wolverhampton) had at least 20 of these available yesterday.
there was also another daewoo dvd/video combo drive in the same pile...looked a
bit more aestetically(sp?) pleasing than the 8800, but can`t remember the full model
number...3--- something i think........it also seemed to be able to handle more variants
of disk. same price though £69.99
