It prints (obviously) scans and copies, on sale from this Thurs at £59.99

I need a new printer and don`t want to pay loads, not being an expert, is this one any good folks?

Hewlet packard stuff is generaly always very good, but the price of the ink will kill you & the colour compatables can be a knightmare, mainly because the print head is attached the the cartridge, with original this means you are practicaly assured of perfect prints, but depending how many times the "remanufactured" carts have been filled the quality can be anything from very good to bloody awfull, i`m only speaking from experience, i`ve had 3 H.P. printers, all of them superb but cartridge costs forced me to go for an epson, a colour cart for my previous HP-916 (also from aldi) cost at least £21 wheras my (superb) epson r300 only cost £6 for a full set of 6 carts.

Have checked reviews for the r300 and it gets the thumbs up, will check how cheap I can get for on-liner.

Bear in mind the R300 is not a multi function device, although it does do a very good job at printing direct to cd/dvd`s etc :)

the cheapest you can get it online (not including something like ebay) is £80 from place like amazon. Also I think Comet has it near that price and might be able to use a discount coupon to get it lower. Or if you need a digital camera (or have a friend/family) who need one, can get the Epson R300/Samsung A400 digtal camera package from ASDA for £149.99. Which can than spilt it between you both for say £75 each. Both getting a bargain than. Also have you look into the Canon IP4000 or Canon IP6000?

You could consider the Epson RX420 which scans, prints, operates as a stand alone copier and has a built in card reader for about £80. It does not print to CDs or use a 6 colour printing process but compatible ink cartridges are available at low cost. I have had one for a short time and am very impressed with its performance, even on photo quality printing.
