WHY DID I CHOOSE DVD INSTEAD OF VIDS
Would somone please remind me why I am moving over to dvd rather than video. Its true the quality is better but thats about it.
The cost is stupid and seems to be slowly increasing. The extras on most dvd are s***e. I mean who really wants to see a trailer of a film they are about to watch and who wants watch deleted scenes which were obviously cut for a reasion( because they were s***e).
I am started to wonder if I should keep going with me video collection and forget dvd.

Do you consider yourself a film fan (nut, buff etc)? Because if you truely were then I guess you wouldn`t have posted that message.
You seem to already know what DVD`s contain and the picture quality improvement and you don`t seem to care about it so there`s another point.
So I guess we should be asking you, "Why DID you choose DVD`s instead of videos?"
I don`t want to sound like a snob but DVD`s really are for the film-o-phile. Very few will really see the benefit of the extra touches the DVD gets, it`s just a case of keeping up with the Jones` for some. Is that why you`ve taken the step to DVD? Pretty silly reason really.
DVD`s really aren`t that pricey in comparison. You get all the extras and the improved quality and the knowledge that your copy of the film is never going to deteriorate with age each time you play it. And you NEVER have to rewind them once you`ve watched the film.
If you shop around you can get the latest DVDs for around 13-14 quid.
But if you`ve already taken the change to DVD and can`t see the benefits then maybe you really have wasted your money and you`re better of going back to videos.

Not only is it picture quality that is better, but sound is fantastic as well (such as Gladiator, Terminator 2 etc). One of the most important things for those of us with widescreen tvs is the fact that most dvds are anamorphic. Plus, on your comment about deleted scenes, a lot of them are cut for time constraints and not always the directors choice (hence directors cut of many films) so most are good (like Gladiator`s).

I`m at a loss to understand what the `bargain` is in this thread.
Please start a new thread over on General Forum - it`s an interesting debate and one that definitely belongs over there.
