Sony PSP Value Pack - Price Drop

DavoTheMainMan (Competent) posted this on Thursday, 30th December 2004, 11:45

Seems that the over-inflated prices for the new Sony PSP have started to dwindle.

I got emails from both Play Asia and Lik Sang to say that the prices had dropped.

You can now pick up a Value Pack with Ridge Racers for £263 - a BIG drop from before Christmas. This is at Play-Asia, whom I have used before and they ship very quickly and answer all my emails, so I now trust them a lot.

I have already ordered my PSP from them, but for others benefit, does anyone know any better deals.

That`s still stupidly expensive though isn`t it?

I thought the unit itself was 200 DOLLARS (in the US obviously). Yet again instead of using the exchange rate, they just change the $ for a £.

If you saw one of these units and were heavily into gaming, you would splash the cash.

When mine arrives, I can see more sleepless nights coming up ;-)

milkman, the rrp converted from yen to pounds is about £130 for the value, and £100 for the standard pack. But it looks like it could be the beginning of Feb before the prices settle down to the RRP, and stock is readily available.

Yes, I totally agree with these conversions, but then we never ever get a straight conversion deal over here in the UK, even when items are officially released here.

I would expect the PSP to sell in the UK for £149 - when released.

Until then, I would expect £189 or £199 to be the settling point for an import, around the mid-Feb time would be about right.

If you want it now, you pay the price, and enjoy :-)

I have to say, I`m impressed with the PSP, the screen is frickin` amazing! And just watching the FMV intro to Ridge Racers makes one salivate, a lot. Playing the game is pretty good too, but I`m actually more into Everybody`s Golf. :D

Have you by any chance played Lumines?

If you have, your impressions would be appreciated.

I`ve not had the pleasure of Lumines. A friend of mine bought a PSP through a friend in Japan which is how I`ve been playing/seeing it.

I think it is worth starting a mini-review thread on the Games Forum.
