Panasonic DMR-E55 - £169.99 at Boots instore

My local boots (Swindon centre) has several of these reduced from £199 to £169. Seemed like a good deal before but with another 30 quid off - even better. Pricerunner has them at £189 as the cheapest. Finally got myself into recordable DVD.

Cheers

PS Does Sky+ export to an external source a la Tivo? (wrong forum I know)

Yes it does, but forget about dropping movies onto DVD. Sky+ sticks the Macrovision protection during the copy process.

There was also a rumour that they were doing it on some SkyOne programmes also.

I believe Macrovision is only enabled for Pay Per View items like Sky Box Office.

Just got the last one of these from the boots store in Bolton.
i have to say that i am delighted with the machine for the price.
Does anyone know if these machines are brand new as mine already had the batteries inserted into the remote also did not come with a blank dvd-r disc?

Cheers

For information, been to Bluewater (Dartford) and stack of these for £170 - as with their electricals they give you a second year on the guarantee.

All need do is wait for a customer to moan about it, return, and see what price they put it in the clearance.

But at this price, it`s a steal...if only they did something about M/R playback

If anyone needs any cheap DVD-Ram disc`s the "Datasafe" ones are good here - http://www.blankdiscshop.co.uk/acatalog/FOR_DVD_RAM___CLICK_HERE.html

They work well on my E50 and can be easily removed from the caddie if you need to put them in a PC drive ( assuming it reads ram)

Also good prices for DVD-R`s as well ;)

" I believe Macrovision is only enabled for Pay Per View items like Sky Box Office. "

Maybe macrovision is only enabled for Box Offiice, however the Digital Copy protection CMSS ? is activated on loads of channels and programmes such as all the movie channels, discovery channels, as well as E4 and many others.

In fact the Ryder Cup golf was protected as well.

Easy gotten round mind you with the Scart Lead from SONEL or KTVISION.
