Sound a good deal. Can these phones be unlocked for use on the Vodafone network?

Please see the article on my website explaining how this unlocking/factory resetting thing works:

http://www.users.totalise.co.uk/~lauriem/latest_additions.html#0610200402

The only thing I should add at this point, as it isn`t yet stated in the article linked to, is that Vodafone don`t yet seem to authenticate access to their 3G network. What this means is that it will currently allow access from a 2G SIM (unless this has changed since I first heard about this). Therefore, in theory at least...yes, you could use an unlocked (but not yet factory reset) 7600 on the Vodafone network. However, I wouldn`t bank on Vodafone 3G remaining authentication-free for very long.

Orange, on the other hand, do authenticate access to their 3G network so your phone is unlikely to work on Orange unless it`s been factory reset to reveal the hidden menu item that allows you to lock it down to 2G. I know that mine didn`t want to work on Orange (in Edinburgh).

O2 & TMobile have yet to launch their 3G service but it`s only a matter of time before they do and then you`ll have problems with them also.

Hi all,

Is this offer still on? I cant see it on the site at the moment.

Does anyone have a direct URL for the mobile? as I could not find it after searching on the site.

Thanks in advance,

Tunesurfer...

Two things lead me to believe that it WILL come with £15 calltime...

(1) All 3 PAYG handsets come with a SIM card. This SIM card always has £15 pre-loaded onto it at source.

(2) Amazon has sold both the 7600 and E616V before without mention of teh credit only to deliver phones with the credit included (notice of this fact plastered all over the box in fact).

You are also probably in for an even BIGGER bonus as ALL 3 PAYG handsets purchased between 01 November and 06 January will also come with a free Christmas bundle - namely free content for 1 month, 20 free mins of video calls and 20 free video messages. So, if your son`s friends also have 3 phones, he can have some video fun with them on Xmas day for free.

Absolute bargain if you ask me...assuming you don`t want or can`t stomach a 12 month contract, that is (there`s an unusually good 3 contract deal being offered at the moment with 12 months FREE line rental thrown in - see my other post on this forum for details).
