fuji finepix a607 at dixons
Is now in stock at £99.99-allegedly rrp was £250
Is it any good
RE: fuji finepix a607 at dixons
Good price - it was "on special offer" a month or so back at £149.99 and there aren`t, many other 3Mp 3xoptical zoom cameras from respected photographic names around at the mo - Pentax Opito 30 & Olympus C310 from Amazon @ £99.99 being a couple that I know of.
So I guess it`s down to whether you prefer Pentax, Olympus or Fuji.
Otherwise, it`s a price that is hard to beat at the moment.
BTW...I think Asda have a 3MP Fuji at this price as well - not sure if it`s the same model as I suspect the model number may be specific to Dixons Stores Group (they have a habit of using confusion tactics by asking manufacturers to rebadge their existing models with different model numbers specifically for their stores - that way they can claim an "exclusive" - Argos sometimes does the same thing also).

They also have the KODAK cx7330 Easy Share, for £99.99 with free delivery, which has a similar bag of features, and in my mind, the bonus of running on AAA batteries, so no charging at the end of a party! :)
RE: fuji finepix a607 at dixons
Fletch... the 16mb card wil be good for about 12 photos dependant on quality... i would suggest a 128mb as a minimum, and upto the size that the camera specifies it will use.
Mine for example will take a 1GB card, but i use two 512mb instead, just because its more practical so different photos of events on different cards, and a little quicker when checking through them or downloading to computer.
i would suggest the Fuji is a great starter camera...

Ebuyer have some good deals on the Nikon Coolpix 3200 and the Canon Poweshot A75 at the moment.
These, going by reviews with sample photos, are better cameras.

I had been hunting for a 3mp camera for a friend`s Christmas present and thought the Olympus C310Z won through (it`s got a larger LCD screen than any of the others at the same price range along with a few other great features and the size and shape of the camera is great too).
Amazon.co.uk do the straight camera for £99 but I found this bundle deal for just £129. Ordered it at 2pm and got it special delivery the following day. Superb!!!

I`ve been looking at the Nikon Coolpix 3200 as I`ve used the 3100 and been impressed.
Be aware that the 3200 comes with normal AAs with no charger, so add £10-15 for that.
My girlfriend has asked me to look into the Nikon and Canon models....
I`ve seen some samples of the Nikon that have awful problems with grainy photos taken indoors, as the ISO level is automatically detected. The Canon model allows you to set it manually, leave it at ISO 50 and it should be ok generally, without any grain.
AA batteries are a better idea than rechargable battery packs IMHO. It means you can cheaply buy spare batteries, which will obviously come in handy for more than just camera use.
