just picked up a 300watt 600w surge 12vdc to 220/230v ac power invertor made by kingavon from makro only £16.99 + vat ok for kids to power the xbox in the car 8) this is a nationwide makromail offer

Bought one of these a week ago to power my laptop in the car, at £20 it`s a real steal. Just to point out though it is a 300watt unit, not 600 (and only 150watt if you use the cigar lighter instead of the crocodile clips straight to the battery).
Only concern I had from looking at the manual is that it says DO NOT OPERATE WHILE DRIVING why? I`ve ignored this advice so that I can use GPS on the laptop for long journeys, so far no probs, perhaps someone could tell me why I shouldn`t have it plugged in while driving?
Anyway, enough waffle........a good buy.

aye just read box wrong 300 watt 600 watt surge you should be ok whilst the engine is running but on start up cold cranking could effect surge so id say best leave it off whilst starting engine to be safe

Probably just a nanny state warning, ie: covering their backs in case someone was daft enough to watch TV while driving. I don`t think it refers to letting it power something for the kids to use in the back, just that the driver shouldn`t be using it while driving.

do they just plug in oyur fag lighter or do they need direct access to your battery????

Plug straight into your 12V cigarette lighter with supplied lead, or onto car battery with supplied leads and crocodile clips.
