bought one today, for the price had to give it a go..

quite easy to set up, but it found 12 channels?

can play imports, but you need to get the file/rom from there website

RGB out, but only phone & s-vid IN

works on a CHEAP bulkpak dvd+rw and plays bulkpaq "orange" disks fine.

still playing with it, so sure i`ll find more things it can do.

Really interested to know what this machine is like, especially the picture. I haven`t seen any reports about its performance but all of the compacks stuff I`ve bought in the past has been ok (I know they source from many different manufacturers in the far east). Please keep us informed.

ok, did some recording today, at HQ (60 min) very good picture, at SLP (6hours) the pik is better then vhs-LP, but with a "cinema look" like you see on the new home and away, not that much blocking (on 21"tv)

2 faults... it gets hot, as there are NO vents on top, and #2 when you set to time record even though i set it to record in lp it went to HQ

could this win the award for the least tec review ever?

woolies do a 28 day return, so if wondering about it, buy it, and as long as they can SELL IT AGAIN you get a refund..

for the price it`s a good player, and MIGHT play DIVX i have a film on divx, put it in, it knows there is an MPEG4 disk, tries to play it, but i get no picture, and broken sound, not sure if it`s the disk or the player.

if it found 6 channels that sounds about right.
BBC 1
BBC 2
ITV 1
CHANELL 4
CHANNEL 5
and the sixth channel should be you`re freeview, ie, you go to chanell 6, then use you`re freview remote. but tbh you would be better just connecting the freview via scart as this will give you much better quality :)

hope this helps.

I don`t believe there is a scart in on this machine so its scart from Freeview box to 3 RCA connectors into the 101. This means you can only input composite video ie. the lowest quality video signal as you need scart to scart for RGB signals.

yeah composites a bit crappy, but still better than RF.

Hi all,
Sorry if my question sounds daft:
How would you manage to connect the freeview box to the DVD recorder only has 1 Scart?
Also, I read on another web site that you could only record to CDR and not to CDWR, which does not make much sense to me.... :/
Thanks for your help.

The scart on this recorder only sends a signal OUT to the tv, it won`t take signals in from anything. So you need to use the input connections which are an s-video socket on the back and RCA connectors marked red and white (or black) for audio and yellow for video. You have two choices depending on the ouputs of the freeview box

1. Get a scart to s-video lead to connect the video of the freeview box to the recorder and two RCA to RCA leads to connect the audio if your free view box has audio output sockets.

2.. If the free view box has only a scart on the bacvk, get a scart to 3 RCA plugs and put them into the back of the 101.
