Page 1 of NEC e313 PAYG on Three - £30
Bargain Buckets Forum
See here. Guess who paid £50 for one three weeks ago :(
PAYG is £15 every 30 days, although it may be useful as an "emergency phone" for the car - well specified phone :)
Updated 5 July 2004 Mobile Fun offer for £29.45 including £2.50 P & P has now ended

RE: NEC e313 PAYG "3" phone - now £30...
Hi Clayts.
Do you know (seeing as you have one already) if this phone can be used with other SIM`s? I have heard that the SIM card for these 3 phones are a different size from standard mobile SIMcards.
Have just ordered a Voda 200 mins x-net SIM (thanks to Spartacus for that heads up on this Forum), and was thinking of getting the NEC e313 you linked to, to use with it instead of my silly ol` Nokia.
Thanks,
F_M

There are some people knocking around that can unlock this handset but in doing so you will loose some features and they can be prone to crashing after an unlock, £18-£25 and take a risk. Could always ask "3" I wanted my E525 unlocking and they quoted me £110.... Anyhow, look here for some handy e313 apps

£30 looks to be a bargain. I wonder how much I could flog one on Ebay! :-)
Beware of anyone who says they can unlock the e313 from the 3 network - it can be done but only with severely restricted functionality. You can unlock the phone from a 3 SIM to...er...another 3 SIM safely, but that`s it.
In terms of the 3 SIM, it`s standard size.
The hackers at 3g.co.uk have had real problems with unlocking it - they have managed to run other networks on it but only in a very limited fashion - e.g. no texts no access to contacts, that sort of thing. The hackers may make a breakthrough, but it`s likely to be some time yet.
In terms of flogging them on eBay, chances are you`ll make £40-50 - people were paying above the Amazon price of £40 for some time (one bloke was even "selling" the link to Amazon - like, dur....).
It`s actually a nice phone, and definitely better than your average cheap and nasty PAYG - the thing that may put some folks off is the 30 day top up period, tho` As I said, tho` it`s worth having as an emergency phone if nowt else.
The software linked to above is only any good if you have the USB Data cable, which NEC no longer include in the package, although you can pay about £9 for one on eBay.
Also worth mentioning WAP access is limited to the 3 services only (ie a "walled garden") and not for external sites.

I was going to dash out & buy 2 this morning but the £15-00 a month was a little off putting, but doing a search on another site showed that several places have offered this phone for a little while at similar prices. A lot of people ran it down & finally the person who posted the phone bought one & hoped no one else bought one as he was unhappy with it. So sadly I have not bought any. It would be nice if I could be persuaded otherwise. Can the camera be used if the £15-00 has run out? & similar the MP3 function? Lastly what is the camera like in comparison to other phones? Roughly how many MPix. .300 maybe .600. ?
so, do you HAVE to top up monthly ? ie if i put £15 on it but only spend £5 will i lose the unspent £10 at the end of the month ?

You`d lose it. It`s really aimed at people who don`t want the commitment of a 12 month contract or who have poor credit ratings and would not normally get one - if you don`t activate the SIM within 90 days the account is closed.
In terms of technical specs, full NEC user manual on this page - PDF document (that needs flipping 90 degrees when you open it up !). The manual that comes with the phone is a special Mickey Mouse "3" version.

It`s NOT a PAYG then. It`s just a wolf under a sheep`s skin.
