Cheap Good Quality Freeview Box

Bunnster (Competent) posted this on Monday, 28th June 2004, 19:04

The following is only £76.49 at Dixons website with free delivery, this is a very good quality, highly rated box, though it has no CI slot to allow you to receive TOPUPTV unlike the Nokia 221t, but as a second box or if you are not bothered, a bargain.

PIONEER DBR TF100 GB

to find just go to www.dixons.co.uk and enter search key of TF100.

Enjoy.

I dunno, I have seen reports that the Pioneer changes channel randomly when using other functions, has a lot of trouble turning over to ITV2 and BBC news multiscreen doesnt work. I have also seen unconfirmed reports that Pioneer don`t intend to ever update the software! Depends on if you care about this features but it doesn`t sound quality or highly rated to me.

I recon` the best box is the Humax one at Sainsburys for £79-00. It has a Channel display on the front & a Modulator. (you can run it to TV,s around the house).
It is also available for £69-00 at Dabs.com (own brand). Most Freeview boxex don`t have channel display or modulators.

I have the highly recommended Netgem & in 3 weeks it has crashed 3 times. So a Humax is a comming to our house shortly.

Hi all,

I have now had this machine up and running for 2 days, not even switched off once, it has never crashed.

It was such an easy install.

Video plays through SCART even on standby.

The digital text is blistering quick (as per magazine reviews), puts my other Nokia 221t to shame (except I can`t watch TOPUPTV channels on it, so it is for the kids play room).

For £76.49 it really is an excellent piece of kit, and I have experienced NONE of the problems mentioned in previous postings.

;)

When I was in Asda recently they had a Sagem box around £40. Anybody know what that`s like?
