Page 1 of Hewlett Packard a409 £270 - Anyone bought one yet?

It`s a PC base unit available at Comet. I`m sure it was £370 a week or so ago...

OK it`s basis, but it`s sooooo cheap and very good value if this is what you need!

Within the picture it looks as if there is a 6-in-1 card reader placed in the front but there is no mention of it in any spec that I find. There are only 2 PCI slots available which is the same number as the clearance BT HP a404 that came up on here recently and that had a card reader and Firewire.

Does anyone know?

It`s all because there`s a surfeit of kit about, and the longer it hangs around, the more out-of-date it will be! Of course, even the cutting-edge stuff will be obsolete before long, so I`d go for the bargains...

FWIW, Dell is the only PC-maker left that actually turns a profit on this stuff. HP makes most of its money on ink.

Hey people - anyone know if this is a DVDWriter and CD Rewriter. I think that`s what I remember seeing it in store. But on site it is ambiguous. DVD & CD rewriter.

Hi, it is a DVD/CD Writer combo and not a DVD Rewriter.

Whenever I`ve contacted Comet using the 0845 number they always tell me they have no stocks in store and I can order with a £12.95 delivery charge.

Yes I called HP to check and they confirmed it`s a DVD readed CD writer. Still a bargain. Perfect to replace my AMD K6 500!

Well in store there seemed to be a stack of them. 10 or so. So I`m assuming you can take away. I`ll give them a ring to check.

Just called Comet on the central call center number. Ordered with card and they put stock aside for collection at my local store. I`ll be going in this afternoon to pick up!
