Damn, I like the FM/AM tuner in my DVD player which I don`t think the Yamada has -still, can subscribe for some vouchers and get another £10 off when spend £100+
The cheap ones appear to be +R technology. The Mico is still in the clearance at Sainsburys for under £170.
Yep, it`s +R technology. It looks as if DVD-R is going to win the format battle, so we`re likely to see a fair number of +R and other non-R format machines going cheap.
Where have you seen the Mico for £170? Which Sainsbury`s?

RE: dvd recorder £199.99
Not sure where you get the fact that Minus DVD is winning the format wars, there are now over 200 models of Plus writers (standalone) on the market.
Its unlikely that minus will win either as plus dual layer will be here first.
Having said that its likely the next generation of recording format will be along pretty soon and that will meaning having to buy a completely different drive etc.
I am looking to buy a cheap DVD recorder asap. I have read lots of bad reviews for Philips recorders. Any other brands I should be weary of?

Okay, I have just read some of the posts in the hardware reviews part of this site, so I feel a bit more clued up about DVD recorders, but if anybody spots a £170 Mico in their Sainsbury`s, please let me know. (I live in London.)

Why on earth would you spend £199 on a Yamada (?? :/ ) when £40ish more would get you the new Panasonic E55 ???
Madness,IMHO.
The +R/RW format is the market leader now, and it looks like the end of the road for the Panasonic -R/RAM recorders.
