I spotted this at Comet as well. Does anyone have any opinion about this for value. Needs a monitor but the £39 PC world jobbie in the other thread would do.

Skinflint its a different system matie, your thinking of the Acer unit the one I spotted today is a Fujitsu Scaleo 600. The Acer is a cracking unit, cant fault it! Im thinking the Fujitsu might suit the needs of a skint student :D

Hi Dusty, I`m on the lookout for a cheap base unit. I missed out on the £199 HP 2.0 Ghz Celeron. :( However, I can`t find the £179 Fujitsu Scaleo 600 on Comet`s site.

I may have to settle for the £300 Acer ...but can`t collect in-store so have to pay £12.95 P&P.

The Fujitsu base unit is an instore only deal much like the Acer. You can/should be able to order any one of the above PC`s in store for in store collection, they usually take 2 days from the order date to arrive at your local Comet ;)

FWIW, Fujitsus usually come with a particularly nice keyboard. Sad, I know, but it`s the main reason I chose one, as I do a lot of typing. The computer`s OK, too - not a games machine, but nice and quiet.

Re the £179 Fujtsu computer - is this definitely Comet?

Visited three stores this morning, all of which have never heard of a computer at this price, and rang there head office who had no record of it either?

Can anyone please advise? :/

Yup, definitely Comet.

This deal *should* be nationwide, its all old stock that need floggin off according to the sales fella, bought one for the hell of it...... using it now and for the dough it aint bad at all. Uses the same mobo as the HP Pavilion 404.uk so it can support 2Ghz CPU maybe more and a gig and a half of memory :D


BTW, operaghost if you go back to your local Comet and tell them the Rhyl, North Wales store is stocking them they might order you one from there and ship it down for you, got to be worth a try!
