Fuji A405 Digi cam

Tarzan (Competent) posted this on Monday, 1st March 2004, 17:39

I recently bought this digital camera for £99.99 from Currys, and am very happy with the features.
However, it consumes batteries like crazy, for which I have rechargeable batteries.
I wanted to buy a mains adaptor, but the Fuji recommended part is nearly £ 30!
Being skint and tight, I bought a £4.99 Uniross universal 300 mA adaptor. However, that did not work. The shop assistant said that it may have been too low, and that I should refer to the Fuji manual for the right amperage. The manual does not state anything.

Should I test another universal adaptor say at 500 mAmps?

Regards

Tarzan

Hi Tarzan,

I have the fuji 405 which was also bought for £99.99, PC world.

I think it is a great little camera but,

As you say it does drain the batteries at an alarming rate.

What I have done is buy a Hahnel PowerStation TC compact overnight charger, this I bought on Ebay. When I bought mine it came with 4 1800 nimh batteries, but now it comes with 4 2000 nimh batteries.

If you go to Ebay just type in Hahnel and when the page opens click on "New Hahnel battery charger + AA batteries" The seller is aspenofhereford,, Highly recommended.

Hope this is of help to you

Gary

I bought one of these too, and I decided to buy the Fuji picture cradle for it.The model number is CP-FXA10 - Currys/Dixons are selling them at the moment for £49.99 - £10 off the rrp. However, I found 7dayshop were selling them for just short of £20inc p&p. I don`t know if they are still doing them, but I can definately recommend it as a charger/battery pack.

yeah, i tried to do it this way with my kodak CX6330, the reason the manual does`nt state
an amperage is that they want you to buy the official adaptor....it`s a bitch...

Just go to 7dayshop.com and search for `fast charger` £13.49 for a Ultra Fast charger or £26.95 with 4x2300ma batteries

Thanks to all of you who replied.
I already have a charger+NiMh batteries. I was looking for a mains adapter, so I could do all the downloading of photos, etc. from the camera to the PC from the mains.
Just saw an ad for a Uniross Digital Camera Adapter - variable voltage output (3v, 4.5v, etc) 2500 mA - for £ 14.95.
I`m tempted to go in for this.
Hope it won`t fry the camera!

Cheers

Tarzan
