Is it duel format? Dont really know much about these drives, just want to be able to copy some movies and watch them on my DVD player.... will this writer do that? Why are some a lot more expensive (not taking into account writing speeds)

Can anyone recommend the cheapest bestist DVD recorder?

No its not duel, is "-"R only and it doesnt like cheap media.
orange bulk pak only writes at x1 speed.
If you do buy the write go for the ritek g4 dye -Rs they are more expensive
but do write at x4 speed with no problems
