Just received my "ezy-pull" corkscrew (big lever action jobbie like a screw pull) comes with foil cutter and a stand. Little Bro` saw my (considerably more expensive but identical one)at Xmas and wanted one, birthday mainly sorted. £14.99 in gadget section. Ordered on Sunday, arrived Wed 1st post. Wahay.
Also received my Count of Monte Cristo (French 6 hour one with Gerard Depardieu) for £14.99, same delivery time. And came with a free copy of the book.
Meant to be far better than Guy Pearce version (the DVD, not the book).

RE: 2 Bargains @ Play
The Depardieu COMC is only £8.99 at www.bensons-world.co.uk; but I fancy that cork screw!

So many films, so little time...
D*mn, I had checked prices, but Bensons escaped my notice, did it include the book?
RE: 2 Bargains @ Play
Yes it did, and until I get chance to read it, a damn fine door stop it will make. 895 pages!

They must be having a laugh saying that corkscrew was originally £59.99 :/
Screwpull one was £99.99, that style has been £50+ for a while, I`m well chufed with one at £15
Yeah, £15 is a good price, Tescos have been doing a nice sturdy chrome one for a few years for 20 quid. Don`t know who who pay £100 for the screwpull one though, just seems a waste of money when there`s already lovely ones at better prices. :)

Looks good, but does anyone no why it isn`t suitable for synthetic corks.
re synthetic corks, weird, I have an identical (but having now played with the play one) slightly better one which opens almost anything. I had a problem with one cork shredding, but none of my other and many corkscrews could do any better.
I say mine is better cos the Play one gearing is not as well machined, leading to a slightly jerky action on occasion. Bit for £15 quid a bargain, wee bro is still getting this for his birthday.
Got my almost identical cork puller for £3 (5 Euro) at a cheapie shop in Brussels - cost a few bob to get there but I`m happy (they say ignorance is bliss).
It works on synthetic corks fine. I think they`re a great device.
