...alternatively, and to keep the cost at that of a local call, just get a policy with Norwich Union! :D

Norwich Union quoted 143 £ more for my policy. They are never going to `quotemehappy`. May be charging the postage from India.

Jit,
have u used these people, and does it actually cost 9p per min?
It`s not a scam is it where once u call up and hang off they keep the other side connected for hours?
has anyone used company like this?
I`ve previously used prepay cards like first telecom and the banana one, but there`s so many around that its hard to compare them

Thanks

I got fed up with Onetel (been with them for years till they screwed things up). Changed to www.call18866.co.uk for about last 3 months and they`re much cheaper. UK calls 1ppm + 1p connection charge flat rate, USA/Canada and others for 1ppm + 1p connection. India is at the moment 14ppm +1p connection. But like most phone service providers you don`t get discount on the 0845 numbers and the likes.

They bill your visa every month and you can view your bill online only. Had no problems with them so far so good.

Katz,

I haven`t had any problems yet, touch wood. Our last bill was just what we were expecting, so I don`t suppose there are any problems. :D

Niteowl,

That 18866 deal is fantastic. Wife`s parents live in Cyprus. Can`t complain at 1p per min! Onetel are 15p!

Have registered just now. Will check it all works tonight.

Thanks

Wouldn`t this cost you 7p per minute plus 1p connection? I`m just going by the tariff on the site. It does state that it will connect most 08 09 prefixes.

I`ve signed up. USA landline and mobile for 1p pm!!! What a bargain!

Cheers JC!

It might be worth checking prices for calls to Mobiles abroad using CALL18866 - especially if the mobile is registered in UK.

As I understand it - if you call someone whose mobile is registered in UK but say on hols in USA and using their mobile there - they will have to pay to receive a call - whilst you pay 1ppm using CALL18866. I haven`t had a chance to check it out.

But if you call someone whose mobile is registered in US then you`ll only pay 1ppm to call their mobile.

I would recommend CALL18866 everytime. Be careful though you don`t dial 11886 else you get a very expensive directory inquries - which I`ve done by accident. If you do - tell them its a mistake they charge you on your BT phone bill but refund you in 28 days in Stamps.
