Page 1 of Free "Carry On" DVD: A.S.A. verdict

Surprise surprise! The Advertising Standards Agency (ASA)did not uphold the complaints made against the News of the World regarding the availability of the free "Carry On Doctor" DVD. >:(
It`s claimed that 399 of the Blockbuster stores were given 240 copies of the DVD and a further 113 stores were given 120 copies!Blockbuster & the NotW acknowledged that a "few" stores in busier areas ran out- I tried 6 and they all had no stock at 12 noon on the Sunday in question! Must have been plenty doing the rounds in local flea markets!!! ;)
Just goes to prove that even the ASA allow "Uncle Rupert" to do what he wants! Anyhow I won`t be buyingthis rag again because the Swedish tart Jonsson is writing a column for them. If that isn`t dumbing down what is? :p

I had no problem obtaining my free copy of the film at Blockbusters.

Lucky you,John, but hundreds didn`t!
Sounds as thought there were many less DVDs than the paper`s circulation and print numbers.
I suppose this is "DVD contention" - but is it 50:1 or 40:1 (or worse)?
If they`d given out a DVD with each copy of the paper (as other papers have done) then the contention is 1:1.
Deliberate rationing and unhappiness, I`d say.

The N.O.T.W has a print run of just over two million copies. Only 110000 DVD`s were made available using the above figures.
Murdoch massacre again.
As previously stated, I no longer buy this rag.
