Sony firmware multiregion available but where?
I was in a Sony franchise today, I inquired about multiregion capabilities and the young saleman said that Sony disaproved but thay could do two forms of upgrade a software and hardware, at respectively £50 and £100.
I asked if the software change was firmware and he got uncomfortable and said yes. Of course £50 for a firmware update is way too much, and they could have just been offering 2 different chips and upping the price of the full version.
Has anyone else heard of firmware upgrades for Sony machines?

I`ve been thinking about this machine myself but messages of problems do seem to cropping up a bit too much for my liking. On the other hand software problems seem to be getting resolved and firmware updates are freely available.
It seems to offer by far the best feature for a great price, I`d try another and then change to a different model if you still have problems.
This type of thing would push me in the direction of a local sale rather than male order for an unreliable product

The reason I posted was that I could not find a Cyberhome link on any DVD site or any search engine. Perhaps DVD.reviewer could maintain a link database.

I have seen that the Macrovision and multi region hack are available but do they need any kind of update.
Richer Sounds sells the machine( £120) and an update disc( £20) as seperate items; Richer`s website almost implies that the machine requires the disc for multi region action. Is an update, if necessary, available free elsewhere?
Does anyone have a web address for Cyberhome, I`ve heard that they are German but know nothing else.
Please help this confused DVD virgin
