RE: Dodgy picture
I`m pretty sure it`s RGB. I`m just using a SCART to connect the two....
Dodgy picture
Hi All - can someone help me? I`ve noticed something weird happening to my TV picture (Aiwa 21" video combo) and I can`t work out if it`s the TV, DVD or Sky. The picture seems to have large pixels when the view is quite dark, and often the picture takes on a kind of monochrome sheene. Has anyone else had this? Could it be the Scart? The annoying thing is it doesn`t seem to do it all the time...I`ts worse on the DVD - Crouching Tiger was really bad - it would be monochrome every time a scene changed. I have incidentally changed the DVD player already (Yelo 800) with identical results.
Any info greatly appreciated - I want to avoid having the TV taken away for repair if there`s nothing wrong with it!
Cheers guys.....Arlic
RE: What is Macrovision?
Hi Stan and Clayts - cheers for the excellent info. I actually had a hunch it might be the splitter box (cheapo Argos affair I`m afraid) so I plugged the DVD Scart straight into the TV and hey presto the lines had gone. In a bit of a quandary what to do now - I don`t want to have to keep swapping the Scarts between the DVD and Sky everytime I want to change over. Do you guys think a better quality splitter would help? Any suggestions on make/type?
Also, the Macrovision seems to be disabled already on my player - I just had a quick play to see if I could record on the TV/Vid combo and it worked fine (I`m not particularly interested in backing up on VHS anyway).
Cheers guys....Arlic.
RE: What is Macrovision?
Hi Clayts - can you impart some of your substantial knowledge to me please?! I have an Aiwa 21" TV/Video combo, Sky digibox and Yelo DVD player. The TV only has 1 SCART so I`ve used a 3 ways Scart splitter to input the Sky and the DVD into the TV. I`ve noticed that there are lines moving across the screen from left right when playing DVDs - they`re almost transparent, and sometimes they`re actualy shapes. Do you think this could be because I`m using a Scart slpitter and the DVD`s picking up interference from the Digibox, even when the digibox is switched off? Any info will be greatly appreciated, and if you`ve got any suggestions for a better set up that would be cool too.....
Cheers, Al man
RE: the YELO is MELLOW!
Nice one that your mate`s pleased with the Yelo. I also took the gamble and went for one and was really chuffed initially. However, I was watching Gladiator on it yesterday and noticed there were some weird, almost transparent lines moving across the screen from left to right, particularly when the picture had light colours. Does anyone know what might be the cause of this? Could it be my Scart lead? I`ve only got he bog standard cheap one that came with the unit - haven`t had a chance to get another one yet. Also, I`m using a Scart 3 way splitter as I`ve only got 1 scart on my TV and need to use it for the DVD and Sky. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
Also, while I`m here, I can`t seem to get the player to pan and scan at all. I don`t have a widescren TV so would like to pan and scan widescreen presentations, but can`t seem to get it to work on the Yelo, even though I select p/s on the set-up menu. Cheers...
Yelo Peril?
I`m a bit new to all this, but I`ve just bought a Yelo 800 and feel a bit of a plum having read what a lot of you guys think of it. I haven`t had any probs as yet - the subtitle problem no longer exists and it`s played everything I`ve thrown at it - CD-R/CD-RW/Region 1/Region 2 without so much as a hiccup. Perchance Yelo have sorted themselves out with the new batch....hope so....
On a positivie note I ordered it from Kiiro at 2pm online on Thursday and it arrived Friday at 10am free of charge....20 hour turnaround not to bad.
