If you can access the menu keep scrolling down, even if it looks like you are at the bottom of the list, then when you go back up the extra macrovision option magically appears ( as long as you have the old software)

I am using a daewoo with macrovision set to off and multi-region. Caused a right fuss at the shop I bought it, as for the secret menu to be available and the hack to work you need to by a model built before August 2000 - the only one they had was the display model - so I took that, never had a problem with it, played everything I`ve thrown at it so far.

Thanks for the prompt reply - I knew I`d seen it some where, must have been in that documentary. Just a note though, the ending I remember from the original release was slightly different not that it made any difference to the plot or over all effect - great film not quiet so unnerving a secound time round. Thanks once again.

Anyone know what version / release (if any) contains the "crabwalk down the stairs" scene, just watched Ch4 showing which was advertised as uncut, yeah right!!

I`m interested how the new fimware hack works and what it is as far as I know the macrovision menu has been removed altogether, the powers that be insisted on it - that`s why I haven`t upgraded mine.

You have to get the timing of the presses just right, it took me a couple of goes.
Now the bad news. I read on the web that if it was made after November last year, then the secret/service menu has been removed. I got mine from Tempo but had to take an ex display one to make sure it was old enough - got it home - sweet as a nut. multi region and "video friendly" Good Luck!
