Unwanted Subtitles on the Grundig GDV 130 / Scan SC-2000

There is a way to switch off subtitles on the Grundig / Scan, if you do not want them, and if the dvd authoring kicks your butt if you want to get rid of them.
I`ve tested it using the "Le prisonnier / The Prisoner" six dvd box I`ve got from France.
Normally the box contains the french version, and the english version, but
with subtitles in french, that cannot be switched off.
Just enter the setup of the player, choose "English" and for the subtitles
"French".
Start the dvd, choose the english version in the menu.
When the episode starts, switch the player off with the remote, switch it on again, and immidiately enter setup. The language menu is now accessable, which it is not, if you just enter setup from the running dvd.
Go to language and switch the subtitles off. Exit setup, et voilĂ , the subtitle hassle is a gonna....
It also works with other dvd`s, as long as the subtitles are not really
copied permanently into the picture.

This rules and makes me really love my Grundig....

Be seeing you

RE: SC-2000 V2.23 and SVCD

Sounds that the Firmware 2.11 is the best bet if one wants to play those SVCD`s.
NiVZ, is there a way to download that version from your site?

Simply open up a SVCD template. Drag and drop JPG files into that window. Only jpg will work.
Properties allow you to set a time for which the pic is displayed, burn it, and off you go!
Did it using Nero 5.038 and played it in a grundig gdv 130 running firmware 1.92.
