Chris w.. What have you contributed DVD hacking... ??

RE: many thanks to STEVE HOYLE from:DVD CHIPS!!!

TO ADMINISTRATORS.

You`ve made a mistake with this one.

I was under the impression that advertising on a site such as DVD Reviewer was very much down to `hit rate`. And the reason people return to this site was due to the varied expertise offered by contributors such as Steve Hoyle and Allan Verth (to whom respect is due for the 711 hack.)
As a regular visitor to your site I have seen what Steve has contributed in the past.
These people help to make your site what it is (probably the best in the U.K) so I feel a bit of `give and take` is definatly in order.

Help Please - Kenwood Dolby Digital Reciever KRFV5030

Hi,

I want to buy the above from Richer sounds. This might sound like a really
stupid question but is `Dolby Digital` the same as `Dolby 5.1` ?

It also says `6 channel output for DTS` does this mean that it decodes DTS
or just has the facilities for DTS ?

Another even more stupid question is (as follows)

Do I need an separate amp to power the speakers (or is a reciever an amp in
itself)

Thanks
Nick

RE: Palm pilot hack for Philips 711

program code that checks for the proper region setting in the player. (There`s Something About Mary and Psycho are examples.) In late 2000, Warner Bros. began using the same active region code checking that other studios had been using for over a year. They called it "region code enhancement" (RCE, also known as REA), and it received much publicity. RCE was first added to discs such as The Patriot. RCE and other "smart discs" may check the language or country settings of the player in addition to the region code. A serious side effect is that some legitimate players fail the test, such as the Fisher DVDS-1000. Discs with active region checking won`t play on code-free players that are set for all regions (FFh), but they can be played on manual code-switchable players that allow you to change the region using the remote control. They may not work on auto-switching players that recognize and match the disc region. (It depends on the default region setting of the player. A disc can have all its region flags set so that the player doesn`t know which one to switch to, then it can query the player for the region setting and abort if it`s the wrong one. A default setting of region 1 will fool smart discs from region 1.)

Palm pilot hack for Philips 711

Hi,

I have successfully hacked my philips 711 using the palm pilot hack on DVD reviewers site.

Out of interest does this hack thwart RCE ?

Thanks in advance
