I am a good guy ?? not according to Allan Verth who`s whinging has had my login terminated and I have been asked not to post here anymore ...

His complaint was that I had said that I didnt think that a region locked philips player (more than 25 region changes) could be reset with the remote hack .. I believe this to be true but could be wrong .....

I was not trying to mislead anyone and apologise if I did , I acknowledge that I have a hidden (some say not so well hidden) agenda to sell chips but always tried to help the best I could ...

Look at the Minato player for an example .. I even gave away a free chip to a user of this board who had locked his player into Region 1 ....

And the samsung 511 .. 6 free chips given away to users of this board ....

Well I`m out of here and this is my last post .... (unless someone posts a follow up which needs to be answered) nice knowing you (most of you ) shame about the minority.

Steve

I had some correspondence with Steve when I was looking for firmware files to put on my site, and I can confirm he`s a genuine and helpful bloke. It`s a shame petty forum disputes can lead to this... :-( Anyway best of luck Steve, I`m behind you for one!

Amir, regarding the 305E firmware, does it actually allow the 305U to play PAL discs? I wasn`t sure before, but if you can confirm this it would be great. I`ll update the site with the necessary info.

ok....since we are naming names let me ask you this steve.......

when i discovered the ONEFORALL hack for Philips players and I informed you of how i did this .....did you or did you not tell me (and i quote..)

"You can be very clever now or very stupid i.e. tell the whole world how to hack their players for free"......

well...acording to you i am very stupid...because i didn`t think that withholding this information was in the spirit of the forum.....

I have absolutely no problem with your "chipping" service....when it is clear that this is the only solution for certain players......(this is a genuine service that is no doubt very professional and very successful..)

HOWEVER...i do have a problem with you trying to make money by misleading Philips owners when they are able to hack their machines without the need of a chip.......

and it`s not as though this is the only forum you have tried it on.........

SO....i`m sorry your login was terminated...and i hope your chipping business will not suffer.......but I just found it unfair to supply misleading information to beginners and novices in the hope of making a few quid....

Since I still am unsure on this one point perhaps you can clear it up .....

When a Philips player has been locked to a region after the 25 changes have been done , can the oneforall code unlock the player or not ?? I am fairly sure I tried this on one player and had no success and ended up fitting a chip but maybe I wasnt using the remote right ... I do have trouble with remote hacks ...

Another point ....

"HOWEVER...i do have a problem with you trying to make money by misleading Philips owners when they are able to hack their machines without the need of a chip......."

A remote costs more than a chip in a lot of cases and may be harder to find ... I think my oneforall 6 was about 40 quid from comet ?? The guy who had locked his player was in Luxemburg so comet may not have been so easy to get to :)

ok....if this is a serious question...then....i appreciate your honesty on this subject

when we say LOCKED TO A REGION.....that isn`t neccessarily the correct description.......

what Philips do....is to provide their customers with the opportunity to change the region settings a limited number of times (to enable the machine to be used in different zones....if moving to another part of the world for example)....they do this by allowing the provided remote to access the code settings 25 times.....after this last access, using PLAY 159 or PLAY 274, the player no longer accepts the command......

SO..the machine is not really locked in a region..it has just had the ability to enter a code blocked!..........However...as you know....a Philips service remote access` the code settings using a different infra red command .....RC6......this enables unlimited access...as it does not add to the EEPROM counter....

so in practice....(and I have done this on a blocked DVD710)....you are able to access the code settings and enter the multi-region code...unlocking the machine.....you are still unable to use PLAY 274 or PLAY 159..but this is now redundant anyway....as the player is now true multi-region and RCE proof.......

even if a new region checking system is introduced....the ability to change regions manually now exists using the RC6 command.......

hope this explains all...

em..you were ripped..(now is that poetic justice?..sorry couldn`t resist that!)....

ONEFORALL 6 - 19.99 (costco - gateshead)......

in fact any of the cheaper ONEFORALL`s with DVD capability and a MAGIC button do the trick.....

you can even program the VCR button to act as the DVD device button on some of the cheaper ones........

.....and doesn`t chipping invalidate the warranty?....and how much would carriage cost for a DVD player from Luxembourg?

hello mike G.
after replacing the eproms, the us 305 start to play region 2 pal discs ONLY(instead region 1 before..).
now,i mod. the player with a u.k chip to be multiregion.
i think that the hack of the 305e will work now too!
