RE: Toshiba SV220E Region Hack

If you mean the `SD` 220E region 2 model then there is a firmware available for download which must first be burnt to a CDR.

I take no responibility for this as some people report this to work OK but others not (although it doesn`t appear to do any damage anyway).

I haven`t done this myself, just what I`ve seen on the net.

If you were hoping for a remote hack then I`m afraid it`s not possible for any Toshiba models as far as I am aware.

Firmware here: http://sd220e.chez.tiscali.fr/

RE: Macrovision / Mac Master

I have posted two threads earlier for Thedvdforums website for some info

I think the heading was just Macrovision.

RE: how to hack my pc-based AOpen-DVD-player

Hi Rudy

It depends which DVD Rom drive actual model you have - not all can be although I think all Aopen can - basically a clone of the Pioneer drives.

You will get a lot of info from this site http://www.7thzone.com/

However I would advise that the method used is called `reflashing the firmware` and if you are a computer novice it can seem quite difficult.

Also you need to be aware that if something goes wrong eg powercut during flash then your drive becomes junk! A small program called Driveinfo (should be available for download via 7thzone) will tell you the exact model of your drive, whether it is locked and the firmware version.

All DVD rom drives made after Jan 2000 were region locked (also called RPC1 I think).

If you are successful you will need to reinstall your player software and also perhaps you will require another program called DVD Genie (again downloadable free) to control the region of the player software itself as these also usually need to be `unlocked`.

Hope I haven`t put you off - just trying to explain :)

I made my own drive regionfree some time ago - Pioneer 114.

RE: I cant get the Hack for the LG3200E to work

Have a look at this site

http://choosefirst.co.uk/

Although this is Aiwa the players are virtually the same and this hack works - did it myself. I understand unless you have the earliest firmware eg 1.0 there shouldn`t be a problem. There is also a hack for you to check firmware version. Mine was 1.3.

If it doesn`t work first time keep trying - took me two or three goes.

RE: Can anyone please help me hack my LG 3200E?

Neilo ... No Problemo!

Look here

http://choosefirst.co.uk/ and choose remote hack.

This is Aiwa site but as the players are virtually the same the hack works on LG 3200E - used it myself. If it does not seem to work first time keep trying ..it will!

Only probs I know about are with the very earliest firmware versions eg1.0
The machine I used was version 1.3.

RE: Macrovision - External Hardware solution

Hi all

Have a look at www.sonel.com who have a much neater solution in the form of a modified scart lead that needs a power supply.

Its called Mac Buster and costs around £31.

RE: Get your Minato G-1 REMOTE Hack here!!!

Hi Rob

What`s the quality like with this player - I hear it has the same mainboard as the Wharf 750s?

However I took my 750s back for a refund because although it worked fine the noise from the drive whilst playing - especially after a layer change - was extremely loud and distracting.

RE: MACROVISION

Also have a look at www.sonel.com who sell the Mac Buster (a modified scart lead which needs a power supply) for £30 odd including PSU.

I bought one but have since sold it on to a mate - it really was for him anyway.

Tried it out on my wifes Wharfedale 750s which worked except there seemed to be a slight stuttering - changing output type did not help.

But on my mate`s Pansonic A160 it worked perfectly hence his purchase.

Bear in mind that if you want to record R1 titles then you will need a VCR capable of RECORDING in NTSC. One such player is Thomson 6950U sells for £99 plus VAT in Makro.

RE: Macrovision dissabler will work on region 2, but not on 1???

Hi there

Just wanted to advise that an NTSC recording VCR is available for much less money.

Thomson model 6950U is one that I know of selling for £99 plus VAT in Makro (it actually states this on the facia front) although I believe available slightly cheaper on the web with some etailers. I understand that most of Thomson (there is a connection between this company and Ferguson) VCR`s can record in NTSC.
