RE: Anybody used choicesdirect.com ?

No customs risk.
Like Sendit.com, dvd.co.uk etc they only ship items for £17.99 and less via Jersey so avoiding VAT. More expensive stuff just comes from their base in Peterborough so usually arrives next day. Jersey stuff has to be shipped to and from Jersey to avoid tax (they don`t keep stock there) so can take upto a week to arrive.

Also they use Parcelforce for high value stuff (usually over £25) so make sure you use a delivery address someone is at to sign for the stuff.

Overall very good and no problems with my orders with them.

RE: PLAY Terrible Customer Service

Quote:
They told me in no uncertain terms there was no way customer services could get into the warehouse to investigate stock, so they couldn`t help me. This is the same reason they can`t go breaking open perfectly good stock in the warehouse so they can post out a missing booklet to a customer. The manufacturer of the disc might be more accommodating but Play haven`t the infrastructure in the company to do that sort of thing. The same is true of all the etailers - Choices, Sendit, Amazon, Tesco, CD-WOW etc.

The only e-tailer I know who will do this are Bensons World. If you have a faulty disk in a boxset you just post back the faulty disk. They send a replacement copy in a blank jewel case.

In terms of booklets what was missing.
I had the problem with DDHE`s Four Sided Triangle which was missing the collector`s guide which is included in all their Hammer titles. The original and replacement from Play both had the booklet missing.
Therefore I e-mailed DDHE (via their website) and they posted me a copy of the booklet by return. I have since discovered DDHE mucked up and the booklet was missing from all copies in the first batch sent to retailers.

RE: When was the last time you recieved something from DVDSoon.com?

Got XXX2 this week.
It seems that XXX2 and Steamboy, both Sony (Columbia) titles are the only big new releases they have shipped in the last few weeks.

Had a chat with my CC company, was asking about something else, and there may be some protection if they go bust.
However there were a few issues
- Will only cover payments in the last 3 months
- Will only cover the original purchases (this means may be stuffed because of the cancel and cheaper reorder saga I went through on many titles). Will have to try and claim against the original payments

For protection make sure you have copies of all your outstanding invoices, access via pending orders (I have printed and also saved copies of the pdf files to my PC).

RE: MVC SALE

My local store in Horsham is still open.

Speaking to the staff last time I was in there they said that Music Zone were in the process of completing the takeover, so suprised they have pulled out.
Woolworths did say earlier this year that if they had not sold MVC by the end of year they would close down the stores. I guess the unprofitable / end of lease ones have already gone.

Also I guess they have loose DVDs as they have now stared removing virtually also stock in my store to behind the counter and only leaving empty cases on the shelves (which get stolen / lost). They store all the DVDs in giant CD holders (the 100+ CD ones from Argos etc :o )
