Transferring AVI to HDD/DVD recorder

Hi

I have a Panasonic DMR-E100H although this question could be relevant to any HDD recorder.

What is the best way to transfer AVIs from my PC (eg stuff I have shot from a digital camera or downloaded from the net) directly onto my Panasonic`s hard drive, so I can write it to DVD?

I can burn them straight to DVD from my PC, but for some reason I find that when I do this, the DVDs often stutter when I play them elsewhere - whereas anything I record on the Panasonic machine is usually perfect.

I have asked Mr Google but come up with nothing useful.
