RE: Lite-On lvw 5045 Superb
The wavey lines are only found throught the TV Tuner RF in . The scart connection is perfect and clear.
Its a shame because its the only thing i have found thats not good with the 5045.
RE: Replacing DVD player & VCR with single unit
Well as i have said in a previous thread I would recommend the LITE-ON 5045 or Pioneer dvr-420 it depends on your requirement but the Lite-On does have a huge hard drive and is very very simple to use...
hope this helps. As far as transfer goes it had jacks on the front if you want to output from video or you can go straight to scart. I have copied a few vhs films now straight to Disk and Hard drive with great results.
RE: Lite-On lvw 5045 Superb
You have a fair point. But ! the pioneer does not have progressive scan , Cannot write to all formats, Has No Graphic user interface (GUI), Has no component output, Has no DV input and as you mentioned the 80gig drive is half the size. For that lot i would say £50 is worth it wouldnt you. ?
Still just my opinion ... Whats everybody elses thoughts ?
RE: Lite-On lvw 5045 Superb
You can get it for £349 includes free delivery...
Check out www.svp.co.uk they also do the Kiss DVD Recorder which might be worth a look but coudnt find any reviews on it.
Hope this helps
Lite-On lvw 5045 Superb
I have just taken delivery of the new Lite-On dvd recorder with 160gig hard driver. I looked around for quite some time comparing different machines etc etc.
I have to say this bit of kit is superb. For me it was a toss up between the Lite-On and Panasonic with 80gig drive. Although the Tuner picture quality is better throught the panasonic the hard drive space, DV Input and ease of use make the Lite-On for me the best buy.
Two words of warning though . The TV Tuner on the Lite-On isnt great resulting wavey lines when tuned in (Not that noticeable) however if you record from Scart (Sky, Freeview) its perfect.
Also when updating the firmware remember it deletes all your previous settings so u need to re-tune the whole thing.
To sum it up this machine is easy to use (my Wife Can Work It :-) and picture quality even on LP is superb.... Dont hesitate go and buy one...
