RE: DVD Recorder for £100??

I have been to two Sainsburys stores in East Berkshire on a regular basis, and both had sold out of the R311 since early January..

RE: Equipment connections

What hassle at Sonel??

RE: Lodos HT-100x DVD Home Cinema package in Sainsburys > any good??

I see the Lodos HT100X package has been reduced to £59.99 at the Taplow Sainsburys (near Maidenhead, Berks).. :)

RE: MICO Espejo R311. DVD Recorder. I have one. First thoughts.

Found this question from last April:
>My problem is that I can`t get mine to record direct from satellite as described on page
>28 of the manual. I follow the procedure exactly as instructed (and also line up
>recordings in `personal planner` in Sky box), but when all that is done I don`t get the
>little satelitte dish symbol in the display and recordings do not take place.

Had a play with mine last night, and did exactly the same things - yes you guessed it - no recording :( As an afterthought I swapped the scart plugs on the rear of the **SKY box - surprise, surprise, I could record using the SKY box `personal planner`.. :)

Now with a bit of investigation I have found out that that the SKY box puts the scart pin # 8 high during a SKY `personal planner` auto-recording, but only does it on the SKY box `VCR` scart, but not on the SKY box `TV` scart.. And that the R311, when set up for satellite recording, reacts to a high on scart `in` pin # 8.
If your scart connection from SKY box to R311 is correct, it will work..

** Original set up, SKY box VCR scart to Matsui DVD player, and SKY box TV scart to Mico R311..

RE: Multiregion hack code for MICO 311

macalloa, more on your question:

>>Can I record in NTSC format to send to a friend in the USA ?

Well it seems yes you can, BUT only if your video source is in NTSC format, if it is PAL it will record in PAL..

RE: Multiregion hack code for MICO 311

I have a feeling in my water that the country setting option has nothing to do with Regions, but is more to do with UHF TV channel plans for particular Region 2 countries.. :/

RE: Multiregion hack code for MICO 311

Looks like it might be a red herring. I have just had a play with the system setup menu and lo and behold the only countries displayed are ALL Region 2 :/
I would also suspect that a reset would only bring up the same list of countries...

RE: Multiregion hack code for MICO 311

Have found some simple advice elswhere on the web regarding playing discs from other regions on the R311:

There does not appear to be a hack as such.... but if you do a complete reset** then you get to set the country anyway...

So if you have a Region one disc that refuses to play, reset the R311 and select USA or Canada when prompted :)

** Unplug the power cord, press and hold the power button, plug the power plug back in.
Release the power button when logo appears on the screen.
This will reset all the settings.

RE: Multiregion hack code for MICO 311

No I don`t think you can.. Might be an idea to ask your friend if his dvd player can read PAL discs..

Happy New Year..

RE: MiCO Espejo R311

Check all the obvious things like loose plugs etc..
Failing that you might have a faulty unit :(

RE: Multiregion hack code for MICO 311

It is always worth going for decent scart cables, but sometimes the cheap `gold plated connectors` have cheap and nasty screened cables connected to them, negating any advantage... Go to somewhere like Maplin, either online www.maplin.co.uk, or one of their stores and have a look at their scart leads..

Have sent a short reply on the other thread :)

RE: Multiregion hack code for MICO 311

No problem macalloa, glad you got it sorted...

RE: Multiregion hack code for MICO 311

Yes..

I do not have a non region 2 DVD to try out, but all reports that I have seen tell of the R311 being multi-region as standard.. Have not seen any hacks for the R311..

RE: Multiregion hack code for MICO 311

<... the freeview box (Bush) has two SCART connections at the rear.
<One (blue) is marked VCR - the other (black) is marked TV.
<I realise the colours are irrelevant - but which of these two should
<be connected to the upper SCART on the R311 ? Does it make any
<difference ? Do I need to connect both ?...

I do not know much about the Freeview box, but for simplicity, initialy just connect the blue scart to the R311..

<...when I tried to record via the freeview the R311 still recorded the
<BBC 1 (analogue ?) signal...

Press the `monitor` button on the R311, this should display the MICO screen with the input channel displayed in the bottom right. Now using the R311 `CH+/-` buttons you can step through the input AV inputs and RF channels. To record from the Freeview box the MICO screen should be displaying `EXT2` (lower scart on the R311).

RE: Multiregion hack code for MICO 311

TV aerial downlead to Freeview box - TV cable patch lead from Freeview box to UPPER connector on R311 - TV cable patch lead from LOWER connector on R311 to TV...

Scart cable from Freeview box to UPPER scart connector on R311 - Scart cable from LOWER scart connector on R311 to TV...

RE: Multiregion hack code for MICO 311

As far as I know the R311 is `region free` out of the box - no hack required :)
