RE: Getting an XBox on Line
First question to ask is what OS your PC is running.
If you`re running Windows XP then you should be able to turn on Internet Connection sharing on your PC on your Wireless connection and connect your XBox to your PC using a crossover cable (this will need a network card in your PC).
Your PC will then give out 169.x.x.x addresses on it`s new NIC and to your XBox and the XBox should be able to use your PC`s outbound Internet Connection.
I`ve had this working with a PC connected to an ADSL modem using an internal switch to connect PC to XBox and Internet Connection Sharing on the ADSL connection so not exaclty the same scenario as you but I can`t see why it shouldn`t work.
Hope this helps,
Yhandi.
RE: Gamecube with a free game and a memory card £78.99 from Argos!!!
Good tip for everyone.
You can use the `Reserve Online` tab on the Arogs site to check you local stores availability and reserve one of their in stock units for collection (if they have any).
My local branch c(Putney) ertainly has some in and this stock is going to be different to their online warehouse stock which they use when calculating their online orders..
I`ve used this before for other items and it seems to work OK.
I would also not hold out much hope of them getting any further online stock based on the Canon Ixus fiasco so this may be a better bet.
Hope this helps - would go for it myself but am still convincing the missus of the merits of Xbox Live and another Console may not help with this :-)
Have fun.
RE: The BigGesT bESteST DeAL iN The WholE-wIDe WorLd EvEr - NEW INFO
Ok guys - this get`s better.
Just got back fro the Putney Sainsbury`s local where they confirmed the 2 for £25 offer although there was no in-store advertising although the assistant said they would be advertising it from tomorrow.
Got The Others (£16.99) and The Office (£17.99) and when they scanned it through it came up under the 2 for £25 offer but discounted £17.99 from the balance giving a total of £16.99 for the pair.
As this was the pricing on the system the very helpful assistant shrugged her shoulders and charged £16.99 to my card :-)
Then went back for some Xmas presents and got Gosford Park (£17.99), Blade 2 (£17.99), Grease (£16.99) and Phoenix Nights (£16.99) for the grand total of £33.98 with £17.99 being knocked off the price for every two DVD`s.
I`m currently a very happy man and will be keeping an eye on the Top 40 for the next couple of weeks.
RE: Psion Wavefinder digital radio under £40
This coupon works with all purchases over £85.00 and gives discount of £55.99
RE: Austin Power`s first movie cheap?
I know this is both of them BUT....
....http://www.ezydvd.com.au have got a Shagadelic boxed set with both films for the bargain price of $54.95
After you take off the tax and add in the postage I reckon that works out at about £20 for both of them including delivery.
Just ordered mine so looking forward to the weekend.
SCAN - Dodgy firmware upgrade?!? Good Customer Services
Hi there,
Just a quick posting to warn of a potential problem with the latest SCAN SC2000 firmware upgrade but also to praise Scan`s customer service.
I got my first ever Scan player delivered on Monday which I believe is from the Dec 1st batch. Nelley had also e-mailed me with the latest firmware upgrade (v192).
One of the first things I did after testing the machine worked was to apply the upgrade so that I could run the DVD output through my video.
Unfortunately the upgrade completely killed my machine. All that happens now when you turn it on is a blank grey screen alternating with a scrambled signal - the tray does not even open. (I don`t know how other people have got on with this but I won`t be using the upgrade on my new machine).
I wasn`t too happy about this and was a bit worried about how Scan would deal with this after all of the negative postings on this forum.
After sending an e-mail to Nelley explaining what had happened and speaking to Scan`s return`s department on Tuesday (alright - the line was engaged a lot but it didn`t take too long to get through) they arranged a pick and drop for Wednesday (today) which to me seemed pretty efficient customer services.
Everyone I`ve dealt with at Scan has been more than reasonable and I`m very impressed with how quickly they`ve sorted this problem out.
Just wanted to put a different light on Scan as most things on here are so negative about them and their attitude to people`s problems.
