RE: STAR WARS: EPISODE 3 Anticipation Thread (SPOILERS!!!)

It wouldn`t be the first Star Wars / ET crossover: "ET" featured a kid in a Yoda costume (accompanied by Yoda`s Theme); ETs were seen in the Senate in Phantom Menace; I definately thought Yoda`s pod was going to lift off and leave a rainbow trail behind it when it lifted off! If it wasn`t intentionally an ET reference, I`d be surprised.

Also, Anakin gets that scar in one of the comics in a fight with Asajj Ventress from the cartoons. This is also pointed out in the Ep. III Visual Dictionary.

RE: STAR WARS: EPISODE 3 Anticipation Thread (SPOILERS!!!)

Luke stresses, "Your real mother" (or something), knowing that Leia was his sister, trying to get some information about the mother he never knew. That`s why he then says "I have no memory of my mother. I never knew her." (again, or something like that).

SPOILER:
It has been rumoured that Leia will be the 2nd to be born. While Luke is being tended to, Padme stares into the eyes of her daughter, smiles, then shortly after dies. The Force lets Anakin & Luke to see images of the future in Episodes II & V respectively. Therefore, it wouldn`t be impossible for the Force to allow Leia to retain some memories of great emotion throughout her life, especially since it runs strong in the Skywalker family.

That would explain why Leia only remembers images of her mother being sad.

RE: STAR WARS: EPISODE 3 Anticipation Thread (SPOILERS!!!)

Hmmmm... another dance sequence? Let alone the fact its blatant CGI-whoring? I mean, I thought "Jedi Rocks" was horrible. But considering its Jabba`s palace on a tenfold & plays such a crucial plot point. But then again, it will only be 5 - 10 minutes of the entire movie..

...am I the only one having heavy doubts about the ballet theatre scene?

RE: STAR WARS: EPISODE 3 Anticipation Thread (SPOILERS!!!)

If you look closely at that pic of Palpatine in the shaft, it looks as though he`s holding onto Anakin`s boot. Maybe to parellel Vader ultimately killing him in the same manner?

PS: Neat idea for that trailer SFBANKS. Love the avatar, too!

I agree. I think the "War!" is too. When I see it pop up in May, I can already hear the giggling and whispers of, "....what is it good for?" from all the other theatre goers.. but I digress.

It would be interesting what Drew`s offical artwork poster is going to be like. It`s strange that it`s four months away and no final poster is up.

I agree totally! His poster`s are always my 2nd favorite part about a SW movie coming out (#1 of course being the movie itself). It would be neat to see how the PT poster`s line-up with the OT mega-poster for `Speical Edition`.

RE: STAR WARS: EPISODE 3 Anticipation Thread (SPOILERS!!!)

I like how that second last-starfighter picture parellels the "approacing the Death Star" shot in ANH! Even the hangar ressembles that of the Death Star II. Some great work there, chewie!!

Also, I guess that shot of Obi-Wan`s fighter going to Mustafar ruins all those rumours about Obi-Wan hiding on Padme`s ship (or vice-versa) that had been floating around. I really thought that idea was a bit hokey when I first heard it. Unless Padme`s in that spare parts canister in the back of the ship in which case we should hope Obi-Wan doesn`t decide to jetteson it again..!!

RE: STAR WARS: EPISODE 3 Anticipation Thread (SPOILERS!!!)

Man, that preview puts the "teaser" back in "teaser trailer"! The first 1/3 of it is footage from 1, 2, and 4. I think that`s a great way to start tying the two trilogies together.
Things I loved:
- Sidious squealing laugh as he hold the lightsaber (listen closely!)
- That hand-to-hand / hand-to-neck grapple between Obi-Wan & Anakin
- Jedi starfighters making the TIE noise!
- Blue turbolasers??
- Tion Meddon`s teeth
- Any shot of Mace with a lightsaber (BMF)
- R2 holding a comlink?
- Those aliens riding what look like robots to Mount Doom ;)
- (as with anything associated with Star Wars) the soundtrack
- Fireships
- The Wookiee battle cry

RE: STAR WARS: EPISODE 3 Anticipation Thread (SPOILERS!!!)

It COULD be that the CGI-helmet is interfering with the face because he does look a little fake. But I remember seeing a picture of Temuerra Morrison in a blue skin-tight suit obviously showing they were going to CGI in his clonetrooper outfit later. This could be the finished product.

One last thing, I like the way this pilot has his face showing, giving personality. Meawhile the TIE pilots have no facial features, making them de-personified and evil.

EDIT: If anyone knows of a site that you can post pictures on, it`d be great (Photobucket isn`t taking new subscribers). I want to post the picture of the new Jedi Starfighter in the Insider.

RE: STAR WARS: EPISODE 3 Anticipation Thread (SPOILERS!!!)

Word over at theforce.net (from AICN.com *shudder*) is John-Rhy Davies (Gimli, Treebeard, Salla from Indy) might be filling in the recently-dropped-out-Gary Oldman as the voice of the infamous General Grievous. I can just picture Grievuos falling off a speeder now saying, "It was deliberate! It was deliberate!!"

Well, its 7:40pm here with only mere hours until I confirm my fears.. *sigh* OT-Hayden, here I come..

(P.S. To be honest, I`m still looking forward to owning the Star Wars Trilogy despite the changes which I`m looking forward to seeing as to how they elaborate on the originals. I mean, c`mon guys, really.. it`s STILL gonna kick ass! ;))

is because this is how he was before the power of the Dark Side corrupted him.

The problem I have with this explanation is that though Anakin turned to the Dark Side, was he not re-deemed by saving Luke? I thought, thanks to Lucas in a couple of interviews et al., that ROTJ (and, concordently the WHOLE FRICKIN` STORY) was about how one can be corrupted by evil but good will always prevail etc. With that in mind, shouldn`t Anakin`s force-ghost have aged when Vader killed the Emperor? I guess its Lucas` story, mythology & universe so he`s free to do as he likes. Still, he could`ve very easily left it alone.

Maybe it`ll make more sense after Ep. III that (supposedly) SPOILER:
explains how Yoda & Obi-Wan were able to maintain their entities after death
.

RE: News on definite changes to the original Star Wars trilogy... (spoilers!)

Well, it appears the rumours have been confirmed this week, including (but not exclusive to):

ANH:
-New speeder in SE`s "entering Mos Eisley" sequence
-Han & Greedo scene changed: they now fire at the same time & Han`s reaction is slightly improved
-Crappy Jabba has been replaced with a somewhat-crappy Jabba
-Diagnoga upgraded (now blinks)
-Aurebush on Death Star tractor beam

TESB:
-New Emperor & dialogue between Vader & Palpatine
-Temuerra Morrison now does Boba Fett`s voice
-Luke no longer screams as he falls

ROTJ:
-Old-Anakin`s eyebrow`s removed
-Galactic Senate & Jedi Temple added to Coruscant celebration
-Naboo added to end celebration
-Yes, alas, Hayden Christensen appears as ghost-Anakin (maybe it`ll make more sense after Ep. III)

All movies:
-Lightsabers have been updated
-Matte lines removed (ie: Rancor scene, space battles)
-Sound & picture quality cleaned up thoroughly
-Some visual effects tweaked (ie: Hoth shield generator explosion; laser blasts)

For an extremely in-depth look at the upgraded DVDs of the Star Wars trilogy, I have found this site & this site to be the best sources for information on the changes & pictures. Enjoy!!

RE: STAR WARS: EPISODE 3 Anticipation Thread (SPOILERS!!!)

Those pics from `Insider`.. man ..I think Bruce Spence is doomed to always play some sort of creepy-ass character.. He`s like the Australian Christopher Walken.

Another thing I wanted to add was the idea of SPOILER:
cutting to a first person view during the opening space battle. I read a while back (I`m sure if you do a Google search or a little bit of searching if you really want to read it) that during the opening space battle, the hull of one of the Republic ships gets ripped open & the Clones fly out. It then cuts to a first person view and you sorta float out with the clones.
To me that sounded REALLY hokey. It just sounds like George Lucas attempting to out-do 1970s-80s self by attempting something new & exciting in his movies (ex: digital characters, digital photography, both of which no one gave a flying f--- about). Now, granted, this probably has been done in several other movies, but God, it just sounds kinda lame to me. But eh.

So the world has found out about eps 7, 8 and 9 because people were made to sign NDA`s?

Gotta love that ironing........

Haha!! Anyhey, to address the issue, I always thought (since he keeps saying his age and family life is more important) Lucas would have a novel or comic book made for episodes VII, VIII, and IX. But eh, to join the choirs of fanboys, after the prequels, I wouldn`t be looking forwards to it.

"Star Wars - Episode VII: The Ewok / Gungan Romp"

RE: News on definite changes to the original Star Wars trilogy... (spoilers!)

I`m probably gonna get blasted for this, but, meh: I`ve seen a few screencaps from over at millenniumfalcon.com and the Jabba was one of them. Now, granted it`s an improvement from what fan accurately called the "down-syndrome" Jabba of the SE, but he still has a really fake and glossy texture to him, like they just stuck a sticker on the reel of film. They may have gotten the eyes and skin texture right this time round, but he still looks artificial. Jabba in TPM looked substantially better than this new one, IMHO. I found that one looked more real, what with all the 3-d bumps and imperfections on his skin.

And also, I find the Emperor in Ep. 5 doesn`t really look like Ian McDiarmid, but then again, it`s 21 years difference worth of make-up jobs. But I do like the new dialogue in this scene. Good to hear that classic Emperor, droning and oddly-pitch voice.

But these changes are final, and there`s nut-all I can do about it. Let the blasting begin...

RE: News on definite changes to the original Star Wars trilogy... (spoilers!)

In the original version of Ep. 4, Han Solo shot Greedo after the "Bet you have" line. In the `97 SE release, Lucas changed it so that Greedo actually shot first (and digitally moved Han`s head making it look like he had some sort of brief seizure), making it so Han had no choice but to defend himself and shoot Greedo. Fans were POed cause they liked it more when Han proved his infamy by just shooting the motherf---er. Plus there was some dialogue changes or some garbage. The reason it got so famous is because such a banal detail aroused alot of tempers (and even found it`s way into a line in "Jay & Silent Bob SB").

But, really, if he was going to change ANYTHING, it could`ve been that frickin` dopey stand-in in the shot when Greedo explodes.

Sweet...... God. If Greedo shooting first caused as big a debate as it did in `97, I can only fear what these changes are going to do. (P.S.: Yes, I knew about the DVDs. I`ve been counting down the days since the OS`s announcement ;) ).

Because Obi Wan didn`t get lured to the dark side. They`ve replaced Anakin`s head with the one he had when he was still a light-side Jedi, before he was "murdered" (from a certain point of view) by Darth Vader.

But under that rational, you could say that Anakin was "ressurected" when he killed the Emperor. Therefore, it should stay Shaw (that`s just fun to say: "...stay Shaw.") Also, if you want to get very literal about the matter, Anakin never wore that outfit. That`s really more old-Ben`s gear. Young Anakin always had that leather, Vader-esque, dark tunic. But I suppose how accurate a spectre`s post-mortem wardrobe is another debate.

I dunno about this whole OT DVD editions I keep hearing about. I`ll believe it when I see it on the official site (unless it`s already up there.. link, anyone?) One change I wouldn`t mind seeing is the addition of the Imperial March to Ep. 4 being, as of (and it`s pretty much a given Ep. 3 will have it), the only Star Wars movie not to have it. I think it will fit in nicely at those several repeated notes when Vader enters the Blockade Runner. That could easily be changed into the Imperial March. Or even anywhere during the Death Star assault. It would tie the films together as would the addition of McDiarmid to Ep. 5.

And this is just me as a Fett-fanboy, but could they PLEASE do something about Boba going out like such a wuss in Ep. 6??

Another rumor I heard was the changing of the Stormtroopers` and Fett`s voice to Temuera Morrisson`s (Jango Fett). Personally, I wouldn`t mind as long as he nailed the intonation perfectly. That`d be near impossible so they`d best leave it. And besides, this is the nitpickings & ramblings of a SW-nerd.

RE: STAR WARS: EPISODE 3 Anticipation Thread (SPOILERS!!!)

I am pleased to use my first post to inform you all the official title for Episode III is "Revenge of the Sith" (story on the official site: www.starwars.com/episode-iii/bts/production/news20040724.html) I think we`ve all guessed that at least once, but personally it`s still nice to see it up on the official site. They already have a t-shirt available that echoes the old "Revenge of the Jedi" logo. Anyhey, in concluison, I like it.. I like it ALOT.
