RE: DV-DEPOT wot a Winner!
Yep, they`re FAN-bloody-TASTIC! An absolute winner...if you haven`t tried them then do so.
Every disc is wrapped in kitchen towel. Very handy for the hayfever sufferers among you (or those of you ordering porn films!)
I always order in quantities of 7, makes the postage charge agreeable (£1.00 per disc)
DV Depot...Numero Uno!
RE: What is DVDBO Playing At!!!
So how come `Janice` didn`t reply to my e-mail, then?
(Is there something you`re not telling us, Ironduke?!)
This is the first time I`ve used them and i ain`t impressed!
Now, DV-Depot, well that`s a different story...the Dogs Danglies!
RE: Has anyone received
Sportsmimic,
As you know, I pre-ordered mine, which was sent 24/5.
And no, it hasn`t bloody well turned up yet!
(I`ve e-mailed them and they haven`t even had the decency to reply.)
Still, at least no-one else has got theirs either!

DVDBoxoffice - where`s my effing films?
Can anyone shed any light on exactly how long it takes to receive anything from DVD Box Office?
I had read rave reviews on them on this site so thought I`d try 2 pre-orders: Vertical Limit (invoiced 18/5/01) and Traffic (invoiced 24/5/01).
So where are they? I presume they are sent when invoiced as I`ve got shipping numbers. (I haven`t checked if the cards been debited yet)
I realise the release date for Traffic was 29/5, but Vertical Limit was 22/5.
A mate got his from Play 24/7 ages ago...O.K., so he said it was a crap film, but I`d still like to see it get here!
Yes, I know Jersey or wherever it is, is closer than Canada, but is pre-ordering worth it if the title turns up AFTER it`s released over here!
Anyway, that`s my moaning done. Thanks for listening.
RE: DV-depot.com...QUALITY!
I compared prices, dicanio, and it was a case of swings and roundabouts - some were slightly dearer, some slightly cheaper. Ordering seven discs added £1.00 to the price of each, which I didn`t think too bad.
I was half expecting to get a customs charge as they were shipped together in a small box but no, I didn`t. Don`t know why, can anyone explain?
Hence the reasons I`m very impressed with them.
And thanks for the recommendation, Longsightboy! (And isn`t the kichen towel quality stuff?)

RE: DOES ANYBODY HAVE A PIONEER 535 OR AIWA 370
Well, if Region 1 `Hollow Man` is r.c.e. then Yes, the Aiwa does play `em.
But see Jimbo`s comments on the software forum, link `RCE on LG3200e` , he knows a thing or two about the Aiwa 370 so he-the-man.

DV-depot.com...QUALITY!
Took the plunge and ordered some region 1 DVD`s from DV-depot...first internet order ever.
And bugger me, was I impressed!
I went a bit mad (intended to order two, ended up ordering seven!...well, gotta make the most of the postage charge, haven`t you?). Placed order on evening of 27th; despatched 28th; received today, 30th.
Not only was it quicker than expected, all the discs were wrapped in kitchen towel, which was handy as I`d run out two days ago!
Superb service, thanks to those who recommended them. Have pre-ordered a couple of discs from DVD box office - hope their service is as efficient as DV-depot.
Big-up the DV-depot!
Just thought I`d let you all know!

RE: Help! do I pay in Canadian or US dollars?
Rah! Thanks Jimbo, not aware of that cunning customs clause!
And yes...AIWA 370 ROCKS!!!
RE: Help! do I pay in Canadian or US dollars?
Many thanks, Longsightboy
I shall `ave a butchers at DV-Depot before deciding - time isn`t too important but if it`s only a couple of quid, it could prove useful.
First time I`ve heard of these bods on this site - good are they?

Help! do I pay in Canadian or US dollars?
O.K., so I`m eventually taking the plunge and buying 2 discs online-from DVD box office, `Gone in 60 secs` and `The 6th Day`
Thing is, I`m not sure whether to pay in canadian or US dollars? Am I right in saying canadian dollars works out cheaper? It seems to, unless I converted the currency wrong!
Perhaps anyone who has used DVD box office can advise me?
Cheers

Jimbo-best connections for 370???
Jimbo,
Can you tell me the best way to connect my player to Yamaha A5 amp?
T.V. has an S-video on side of set next to audio plugs; 3 scarts; left, right, centre and rear amp connections
Video has 2 scarts; audio in/outs + video in
I think the joy of finding a 370 in Comet last Sunday has disturbed me to the point where I can`t make sense of the manuals....doh!!!
Cheers in advance
RE: Just bought an Aiwa 370.
Fraser,
You can`t go by what their customer service tells you - I phoned them for stock availability whilst standing in front of the demo model and they told me they were no longer listed!!!
Obviously discontinued due to new models to be released - still worth travelling to the stores to see what`s on the shelves, though.
RE: Just bought an Aiwa 370.
Having waited for 2 months for an Encore to appear in the post I too wandered into Comet yesterday (Sunday) to find the last model on display just waiting to be bought!
Presumably still there because the staff were unaware it is discontinued (still had £199.95 price tag)
Proves they`re still out there if you look!!!
Now I`ve got it - can anyone tell me the best way to connect to Yam A5 amp & Thomson T.V. (unfortunatley no S-Video plug on telly) and VCR too!
RE: Took the Thomson back..got a Medion from Aldi (£129) BIG thumbs up :)
Yeah, where d`ya get it from???
My local Aldi hasn`t got any, and a quick look at their sites special offers doesn`t include a DVD player!!!
The more I can`t get one the more I want one!!
RE: Took the Thomson back..got a Medion from Aldi (£129) BIG thumbs up :)
What`s the hack for it then?
As the Encore I`ve ordered isn`t coming, I`m looking for an alternative - and this is CHEAP!!!
Should I chance it or play safe with a Pioneer 535?
Can`t wait for Encore player, any alternatives?
Having been very patient over Christmas waiting for an Encore player NOT to arrive I have finally given up hope.
Can anyone suggest an alternative player with similar features (multi-region; same outputs) and similar price, or another site from which to order.
( Who have disappointed me? No names, but `World` and `DVD` are in the title!)
Of course, I could just sit and stare at the Christmas tree lights for another month.
RE: Amps & Bose speakers
Hi Rover,
Glad I`m not the only one who`s missus won`t let me have floorstanding speakers!
I`ve also been told by my local dealer that Bose is best when I enquired as to the Mish FS2AV in comparison. £1000 for Bose and although small, the Missions are definately more tempting, £669 from www.hifibitz.co.uk
Although I`ve not heard them yet, I will no doubt go for the mish after Mark`s comments.
Got my Yamaha A5 from www.unbeatable.co.uk £276.98 (incl p+p)
Great price, Excellent service! More than I can say about the company from whom I`m still awaiting the DVD player. They shall remain nameless (unless someone asks me, of course!)
So, get theYam amp and put the £200 towards the Mish speakers.
SORTED!
RE: Hot Toast !
Thanks Clayts,
Maybe that explains why the player I ordered from DVDworld in November STILL hasn`t arrived?
Nice of them to let me know, though innit
And I so nearly cancelled & bought the Aiwa!!!!
RE: Encore 450 artifacts...
Well I`m still waiting for mine to appear...4 weeks and counting!
S`pose it`s cause I want a black one (already got a silver toaster, Ironduke!)
I seem to be reading about firmware upgrades for various problems - do I expect some hassles when I eventually get delivery?
RE: Encore DV450; Yamaha DSPA-5 amp; Mission FS2-AV: Good set-up?
Cheers Clayts,
That`s the kind of reassurance I need before forking out the hard-earned dosh!
Encore DV450; Yamaha DSPA-5 amp; Mission FS2-AV: Good set-up?
As a home cinema virgin with a Thompson 32" w/screen and Akai VCR I have decided it is time to upgrade my cinematic experience with the purchase of the above gear.
Encore DV450:- because it`s multi-region, cheap, appears to have minimal problems
Yamaha amp:- because it`s the dogs danglies for the price
Mission FS2`s: because the missus won`t let me take over the lounge with floor standing towers( or anything else for that matter!)
Anyone think of a better (almost future-proof) set up for around £1300
RE: Aiwa 370 Vs. Lecson Vs. Encore 450 which 1 ?????????????????????????
The Encore DV450 is advertised at dvdworld.co.uk for £179.00 + £10 uk delivery charge.
In fact I`m thinking of getting one myself - although what`s all this about upgrades for out-of-sync lips?
