RE: Yamaha DSP-E800!!!!!!!!!!!!!You won`t believe how much I paid.

I got mine from Richer sounds (WEB) for £207. They price matched unbeatable and then knocked off £10 !!

RE: Yammie A5 or E800 ???

I bought an E800 from Richer online for 217 (they will price match the unbeatable.co.uk offer). This was delivered mid December. I`ve got an Arcam Alpha amp so didn`t want to downgrade to an A5. Your`re ultimately bettter of with a dedicated AMP+processor rather than AV AMP if you can afford it as the AMP will be better for normal listening.

RE: Making the most of available RGB SCART and S-Video SCART inputs

Sounds like the same issue I have with my Sony DVD player. This allows daisy-chaining, but if the DVD player is set to RGB output, then the Video which is daisy-chained doesn`t work (TV only gets the sound). The Sony manual states that the daisy chain will only work if the DVD output is not set to RGB. I guess this is the same for your digital box.

RE: sony/ panasonic/ phillips?????

I`ve got the sony 336 (silver version of the 335). I bought it from multiregionmagic.co.uk for £279. Importantly, this is for both auto & manual switching. Everyone I spoke to agre.eed its the best player at this price based on sound, picture and build quality. The Toshiba e100 has a comparable sound/picture level (if slightly lower) but not as good build quiality. I don`t think the Tosh has a manual chipping option yet and cannot play RCE disks properly though. The sony doesn`t have a decoder, but your better of with a seperate external decoder if you can afford it! I`ve got the Yamaha DSP E800 and it`s the dogs danglies.

If you buy from multiregionmagic.co.uk then get you cables there too, they`re about half the price of the normal comercialy cables, but just as good. e.g. digital coax 5M for £12 !

Go for the sony, you know it makes sense.

letsbuyit are doing the sony for £199 but it`s region 2 only.

RE: Sony 336 BURNS & ROCKS at the same time .....

Bought one three days ago from multiregion. Should be there when I get home tonight. Everything I`ve ready says it`s the dogs b******s. No decoder or add-ons, just a lovely jubily picture & sound. Will let you know how it plays.

How do MultiregionMagic compare to Techtronics in the chipping stakes ?

Techtronics have run out of the Sony DVD 336 I`m considering (with auto & manual) but MultiRegionMagic do it for £10 less. How do the two compare for reliability, service etc ?

Sony DVD 336 - is it any good ?

I`m looking at buying the sony 336 DVD player, I`ve already got dedicated seperates for the surround so don`t need a built in decoder. The important items are picture, sound and RCE compatability, the stereo is a distance from the player, so the player must have a coaxial digital out. Techtronics are doing the sony for £299 auto & manual. Is this the best bet at this kind of price ?

Any help welcome !
