RE: Help with Region 1 variation problem with Toshiba 220EB & Terminator 3

Thanks for the advice - I`ll try another disc from a different source.
That will confirm whether it is an individual rogue disc, though
I found out last week that it runs fine on an unbranded code hacked machine
my daughter picked up in the sales. ouch! :)

RE: Wiring Up My TV to appliances...

Hi

Depends on your make of TV and its setup. What`s the make and model number?.

Generally I`d connect the gold Scart from the DVD to which ever input on the TV
handles RGB signals. - You can check that in your TV Manual. Turn on your TV
and try for a standard Terrestial TV channel like BBC 1. Now turn on your DVD and see if
the TV pic dissapears. If so then your scarts have a control feature which will let you display
the pic from the last device (dvd, sky, vcr) turned on. If not use your TV remote to select scart 1
You should get the start up screen of the DVD player. THis might be just a blue screen,
so press the setup button on your dvd remote and this will give you some setup options.
If it doesn`t and the remote is working ( probably check the open button opens and closes the dvd)
then your dvd could be set to output NTSC and your TV set to receive PAL (or vice versa).

If this is the case use your TV remote to set your TV to receive inputs on scart 1
as AUTO or whatever the opposite is of what is currently set. Now you should get a DVD picture.

Use the setup buttons on your dvd remote to set the picture output to be AUTO and RGB.
Use the setup buttons to select sound and see what the options are. If scart is available then
select it . You might have Bitstream as an option in which case you`ll need a special coaxial lead
to go from your dvd to TV - This generally gives good sound. If your TV doesnt have a bitstream connection
or sound via scart, you may need to connect the sound via phono leads.

Once you have the setup done on your dvd then try playing a dvd to check that the first device (the dvd player) is working.

Follow the same procedure for the other two devices - these should be easier as you have set up the TV .

Hope this helps.

Help with Region 1 variation problem with Toshiba 220EB & Terminator 3

Hi.
I picked up a Toshiba 220EB (Multi region dvd player) from Richer Sounds a year ago.
Its played Region 1 and 2 DVDs fine.

Last week I ran through the whole Smallville Region 1 set, but this week I tried
a Region 1 Terminator 3 dvd and got the "disc playing unauthorised" message.
Smallville and other R1 discs work fine, but not Terminator 3 (Widescreen 2 disc version)
- neither disc plays.

I can`t find an RCE label on the T3 disc. Any thoughts gratefully received
as to dvd vs player problems.
