RE: PHILIPS TV/DVD 28PW6816

you vould try this:
Using a OneForAll remote such as the OneForAll 6 (or URC7560) or OneForAll 4 Digital

Configure your remote using the setup code 0539
Press the Magic button
Enter the code 085
2. The onscreen display should show 11 spaces like this: `-----------` but it may show nothing (This is the drawback)

3. Using the number keys on your DVD player`s remote control, enter the code 222 222 005 255. Note that this is 12 digits and the last digit will not show on the on-screen display.

4. Press the Play button on your DVD player`s remote control
5. The onscreen display should now show the words No Disc
6. Power off your DVD player, wait 10 seconds and then power back on

If this doesnt work try the following
1. In TV mode, on the remote control press [0],[6],[2],[5],[9],[6] and then press the [MENU] button, Or press a channel number and while it is displayed press menu
2. Select the "DVD" option on the menu, using the arrow keys, and then press the [ENTER] button
3. scroll down and Highlight the "Region" option, and then use the left and right arrow keys to change the region from 2 (UK), to "ALL" or press 00 for region free
4. Exit by pressing the [MENU] key until you are back to TV
5. unplug (manually switch off your tv) for 10 seconds or more switch back on and voilla

RE: Region-free hack for a Philips 28PW6826/05 TV/DVD combi, please

somewhere else on the form it says something about there being no display so you have to do the hack blind - might as well try it and see

RE: PHILIPS TV/DVD COMBI - 14PT6107 - HACK DETAILS

yep ditto
as long as the channel is displayed i can get the "special" menu allowing me to access the dvd region. unfortunately this doesnt appear to allow me to play region 1 disks
i reckon its hard coded to a chip as well somehow or im missing something silly

OK I`ve done it - just follow the rules (Dont worry about the changing channels thing just ignore that.
You should then get a grey menu with loads of different options (nstead of the usual 4 or 5)
use the left arrow key on your remote until it displays DVD (Again it will change channels each time but ignore it)
press OK. then use the down arrows until you reach the bit that says DVD (About three from the bottom) press the right arrow key. then press (0) and it should now show (00) press menu till you get back to the normal dvd screen. SWITCH OFF THE TV so that it is totally off (IE Press the button on the actual tv not Standby) - wait 10 seconds turn on and watch a region 1 (Or other region) disk at your leisure
