CD- CD Recording on LG DVD Recorder

A couple of months ago, I bought an LG GSA-4082B 8/4x DVD recorder drive for my computer, replacing my Plextor CD recorder. I`ve had no problems recording DVD- DVD with the new LG. It records perfectly in DVD mode from an original DVD to a recordable DVD.

However, I`ve now gone through goodness knows how many recordable CDs, trying to copy from CD to CD. I have both Easy CD Creator v5, and Nero, both of which have given rock solid recording with my Plextor recorder. Easy CD Creator doesn`t even recognise that a recordable disc is in the LG drive. Nero does, but reports an error recording at the end of the process. I`ve tried recording at slower and faster speeds- no difference!

I`ve even tried uninstalling ECDC v5, and replacing it with my older version- still doesn`t recognise it!

Don`t know the technicalities- the drive I purchased is advertised as a CD/ DVD burner. I can record plus or minus format DVDs from original DVDs (also into DVD RAM, although I haven`t tried that yet).

But, as described above, so far, absolutely no success in recording CD- CD. And that is my problem!

Any thoughts, anyone?

RE: Bench KH6777 dvd player- Problems with a hack

Sorry, Clayts,

That reply didn`t come through,

RE: Bench KH6777 dvd player- Problems with a hack

It works most of the time in multi region- mode 9, just get glitches from time to time.

As a matter of interest, why would you go to discrete regional modes- 1- 2 etc, when you can just stay in multi mode, once you`ve accessed it?

RE: Bench KH6777 dvd player- Problems with a hack

Thanks for that, Clayt- I actually found out by accident that it`s the central button that does the changing, and that the left and right arrow keys change the three options for Region, Macrovision, and VCD, in the same way as the up and down keys!

I must say that, in Region 9 mode (Multi-Region?), I get a "No-Entry" sign quite often when I am using various controls, such as skip, fast forward, etc. Anyone got any thoughts on this?

Bench KH6777 dvd player- Problems with a hack

I`ve tried the hack, opened tray, pressed 2812, menu popped up, with Regions highlighted. Unfortunately, when I press buttons 2 or 9- or whichever, to try to change regions, I get no response from the machine! (Macrovision was fine- could select that no problem, but regions remained stubbornly 2!)

Anybody got any thoughts? I`d appreciate them!

Hey Guys,

If you haven`t got one yet, you almost certainly won`t! I got in at 9.30, and bought the third last one in my local Lidl! Still to try it out. Thanks for all the hack info.

RE: MICO Espejo R311. DVD Recorder. I have one. First thoughts.

Sorry, Paull,

My second question was mis-typed, and should have read
"If I record discs on the Mico, which is DVD+RW, can I play these disks back on another DVD player which plays back on DVD-R/DVD-RW? Quite a few of the less expensive DVD players (£50-100) seem to be in the minus format. "

RE: MICO Espejo R311. DVD Recorder. I have one. First thoughts.

I am a novice to DVD recorders, and players, for that matter! Can anyone tell me whether these DVD recorders have timers similar to my VCR, so that you can progamme in the various programmes which you want to record later?

Also, if I record discs on the Mico, which is CDRW+, can I play these disks back on another DVD player which plays back on CDR/CDRW-? Quite a few of the less expensive DVD players (£50-100) seem to be in th minus format

Replies will be appreciated.
