A few simple questions from a stupid person.

OK, I`m just getting into Hardware.
Heres what I have

Marantz Amp & Marantz DVD ( Marantz Eclipse 70 aka DV2100 )
Sky+

Heres a few questions I can`t get my head around.....

1, The Amp dosn`t have Optical in (go figger!!) I always thought that a standard phono connection (red and white) would only deliver left and right channels. How come when i listen to Eastenders on Sky+ I get `atmosphere` sound out of the rear speakers (dolby Pro Logic????)

2, Why does the amp have yellow video inputs? I thought amp`s were for audio only

3, I have 100`s of Region1 disk for sale cos I can`t find a region hack :( (not a question what ya gonna do!! lol )

I told you there were simple stupid questions but i can`t sleep because of them!! :p

Help Me Please, otherwize I have 100`s of DVDs for sale!!!!

Is there a region hack for this system? Or will I have to convert all my american disks! (that will give me something to do on the long lonely nights!!!)

Am I asking Too Much???

I am after a new system and I would like peoples comments and feedback

Here I was I would like in an ideal world

DVD Player must be:

Multi-Region
Mp3
DVD-R

AMP must have

2x Optical in (one for DVD Player and one for Sky+)
5.1 DD and DTS

I don`t want speakers as I have my own to connect.... Both systems I would like in sliver colour.

Surly this is not too much to ask.... I have a very low budget of about 200 UK Pounds.
I would prefair brand names like sony, phillips etc but I guess not on this budget.

I know this has asked 100`s of times.

My Dad`s birthday and I have 60 pounds to spend on a player. Asda, Safeway, Comet etc. Do Asda still do 3 year warrentys???

Must Be Multi-Region and play DVD-R... VCD/SVCD and Marofree a bonus :-)
