RE: Placing radiators under the window - am i being thick?

They convect heat up and so reduce drafts. Apparently. I`m not sure how relevant this is if you`ve got double glazing though...

Damn. Beaten to it.

RE: Poirot Collections 1 to 6 - cheap

what a bargain - I`ve ordered the lot, cheers!

RE: I Got The Blu-ray Blues...

Based upon recommendations in this thread I thought I`d try Tower.com, so I ordered Cloverfield last Friday, using the cheapest postal option. It cost me £10.31 and it arrived yesterday!
I`ll be using them again.

RE: N95 vs N95 8GB

it`s on my 8GB, Menu, Applications, Office. There`s a bit more info about it here

RE: installed ubuntu, lost xp....

I have managed to get a windows disc but my data`s gone. Luckily there was not too much there, as I formatted not too long ago and stuck must of it on an external HD.
I`m doing a working dual boot at the moment. I don`t see why it went so very badly wrong the first time, as it was pretty easy to do this time. I`m getting more familiar with ubuntu, and I do like it. It`s so different it takes some getting used to though, hence I`m keeping XP going for now.
Thanks for all help/advice.

RE: installed ubuntu, lost xp....

Checked the link - it`s not me but may as well be as it all sounds uncomfortably familiar...

I have had a play around with linux and I do like it. It`s only the fact that I seem to have lost all my XP files that I don`t like so much.

I am indeed without an XP install disc. The only copy provided was in a partition on the laptop`s hd, which seems to be gone.....

RE: installed ubuntu, lost xp....

I booted from the cd then installed. I thought I just followed the instructions which ought to have given me the option to boot with either ubuntu or XP, but either I went badly wrong, or something else did. It was late at night when I did it, and alcohol had been comsumed.

I can`t find an sda file anywhere. I have a sinking feeling.

I`ve had a look around the ubuntu forums but not yet found a solution, but thanks for that tip.

RE: installed ubuntu, lost xp....

I think I may have just 1 partition. sorry to be lame, I`m no expert which is why I`d intended to leave xp on, so when i screwed up I could just go back to xp.

I have an mnt folder but there`s nothing in it. have I overwritten xp?

installed ubuntu, lost xp....

I`ve installed ubuntu on my laptop, and thought I`d done everything correctly so I could boot from either ubuntu or xp. apparently not. on start up it`s ubuntu only. anyone know how/if I can rectify this? not got an xp disc as it was on the laptops HD.
Cheers

RE: Beer Offers

Hmmm indeed. Have you looked at the first couple of posts in the bargain buckets forum? You`re being victimised!

RE: Family Guy season 1 £9.99 from Blackstar.co.uk!!!!

Nice spot, pretty good series this. May have hesitated at paying the full £24.99 but for £9.99, why I`d be a fool NOT to buy it. Should now be winging it`s way towards me...

RE: Check this out when on dvdsqueeze.com how does it work?

Just tried it out - very scary. Almost certainly the usual sales pitch as previously stated but could seriously worry the uninitiated. For any out there who`ve not tried it/didn`t get it, it gives your IP address, your ISP, your OS & what version of IE you are using. I`m behind a firewall & have never visited said site before and am NOT happy to see how much info they seem to be able to trawl from me, though I`m assuming my system is safe I`d certainly like some reassurance - anyone?...

RE: Whats The Best Prize You Ever Won?

I won a cut`n`style at a local salon (i.e. hairdressers) in a pub draw. I had a skinhead at the time...My lesson has been learnt

RE: ntl investigation pop-up

Not entirely sure, though I would imagine so. Should make it abundantly clear we are not talking anything too dodgy here, also have been with ntl several years. The whole thing just seems odd. The pop-up message was not in ntl`s usual style/colours and if they are monitoring or investigating users why on earth would you get a pop-up to tell you?

ntl investigation pop-up

Was surfing aimlessly, including some sites more suited to the over 18`s, when got a pop-up saying "warning, ntl investigation" which also gave my ip address and had a link for further info, whcih I didn`t use. Any other ntl users seen this? Is is something genuine? Perhaps it`s a coincidence but my firewall has been under heavy attack in the last couple of days but since getting this message (around 7 hours ago) the attacks have stopped.

RE: 3 to go video mobile - £50

With regards to Hamid`s comments - my phone also came with 2 chargers. I rang up to see if this was correct and was told that as they are heavy on batteries they provide you with 2 chargers so you can have one at home and one at the offfice, for example. Quite handy though not completely reassuring.

RE: 3 to go video mobile - £50

It`s not pay as you go in the usual sense. You pay by direct debit but there is no line rental or other standing charges. If you don`t use it you don`t get charged. This does mean that they need to credit check you and so you don`t have the anonymity of normal payg. Not a great phone for crack dealers then...
