RE: pc dvd hack please?????????????????
Hi, you will need to get a firmware upgrade for your dvd-rom drive and you will require DVD Genie to patch your dvd playback software. You have to check your dvd-rom`s make, moel number and firmware version and then dowload the applicable firmware update. To get this update I will refer you to a reply I gave to another thred on this forum. Just follow the links and you should find what you desire.
((((Hi, The reason that the patch asks for a blank floppy is that the upgrade requires the computer to boot from dos to run the patch. When you insert the floppy, follow the instructions to create the disk and then restart your PC with the disk in the floppy drive. You will need to make sure that the PC searches for "a" drive during boot up. This will then flash your DVD-ROM drives firmware chip. IMPORTANT, DO NOT touch ANY of the keyboard keys during the flash procedure, DO NOT switch off or reset the PC either. This will render your drive usless.
DVD Genie will need to be installed and set up for auto insert for you to watch foreign dvd`s, both the patch and DVD Genie are requirments on any PC DVD-ROM. I have carried out these firmware upgrades on dozens of PC`s and I have not had any go wrong, BUT you must understand that there IS a risk involved, that is the reason for all the warnings. One other piece of advice is to ensure you have the VERY latest patch for you model of DVD-ROM drive, check your existing firmware version and then match this to any compatible patch. I have not checked out if this site has patches for PC drives but there are a couple of links below. I hope that this will be of some help. byeee!!!!

RE: Looking for an easy to install Mod chip.........
Hi guys, I`m a semi-pro chipper so I think I can give some good advice here.
NEVER, NEVER, NEVER attempt to fit a Messiah or Magic chip to your console unless you are an expert in soldering. I have been chipping PS2 consoles for two years, I`ve got over 100 Messiah and Magic chip fittings under my belt and I STILL ocasionally get one wrong. It is a bugger of a job to do this correctly and I would advise everyone against doing it yourselves. These are the very best mod`s available but get them fitted professionally.
You can get much easier DIY chips, but as others have said, thier functionallity is limited. The USB chip or S-Box is NOT reccemended for v5 PS2 boards and it still requires soldering a wire on the motherboard with a MAJOR strip down of the console.
You can get a solderless plug in module which only requires a partial strip down of your machine. This works o.k. on v5/v6 consoles, however
you will require the latest version of ACTION REPLAY and for DVD-R backups you will also have to perform what is called, The Double Swap method with an original DVD PS2 disk that has a larger table of contents than the backup. Use Devil May Cry 2 if possible, but apparently the newer Demo disks that come with new consoles are the best disks to use for this method.
Another mod requires your to replace the top part of the casing on your console with one that has a "Flip" lid. These come with a boot disk for either cd-r`s or dvd-r`s. I haven`t looked into these but I think that a mod-chip is still required, although I am not sure.
I hope this advice is useful and remember, Let`s be carefull out there!
RE: computers and dvd
Hello, you can record upto 18 minutes of full dvd quality video on a standard cd-r/rw disk using your recordable cd drive. but you will have to author the files correctly using dvd authoring software for it to play on any DVD player console.
If you want to encode more than this you will need to purchase a DVD recordable drive, preferably DVD-R and not DVD+R. One way of doing this without buying a DVD burner is to create Video CD`s. Most DVD players can play these and you can record upto 45 minuites on one disk using a standard CD Burner and Nero/Roxio software
You can find loads of advice for video copying/encoding/recording, and software, some free, some not, at the following link,
